Everyone knows the Democratic Primary is about as important as an ASB election.
The DNC will run who they want to run.
I just hope it doesn’t have repercussions in the general.
EDIT: Oh, it was only 13%? That’s actually something of a relief. Stuck here in the Fediverse (and in a rural area where fellow Democrats are rare as unicorns) I was ready to hear 40% or something terrifying.
Thank God so many democrats are pro genocide, otherwise a trump presidency would be unavoidable! This is a primary, this is literally THE place to protest vote. This does nothing to help trump win. You’re just a liberal who’s salty people don’t wanna support genocide as hard as you do
Considering that 1) they started the campaign late, 2) that’s enough votes for biden to lose the state in the general and 3) it’s only to get worse as the Gaza Genocide continues;
Yeah, I don’t think you should be breathing a sigh of relief. Especially after this straight up bullshit of “we’ll have a ceasefire next week!” … and “next Monday!!” Followed by Israel doubling down on it.
How stupid of people to consider not voting for Biden because of Gaza. Trump will be much worse.
How stupid of the Dems to consider not supporting Israel because of Gaza. We’re not asking much.
How are they stupid? We know Trump will be worse. The problem is we also know that Joe Biden will not be better Also, y’all act like we want Trump to win. We don’t. We want better from people that claim to be fighting the forces of fascism for us. Even tho they are bought and paid by fascists as well.
We know Trump will be worse. The problem is we also know that Joe Biden will not be better
Then I don’t think you know what ‘worse’ and ‘better’ mean.
Also, y’all act like we want Trump to win. We don’t.
Then read up on how a FPTP system works in practice.
Sir, this is a primary.
Protest votes against Biden are completely valid during the Primary. Especially since it’s not like we have any real other options and the DNC is a private undemocratic company. Voting Biden over Trump in the National is a no-brainer. This is absolutely the time to demand more from our representatives.
Voting Biden over Trump in the National is a no-brainer.
As long as you believe this, we’re on the same side. My comment was directed towards “Joe Biden will not be better” and the implication that not voting for Biden isn’t a contribution to a Trump victory.
This is a breakdown of the votes by county I think 13% is the average but most places were around 10% reaching as high as 17% which isn’t something to scoff at.
Apparently the goal was to get 10k+ uncommitted votes and they got well over that, a pale comparison to the 200k in 2008 when Obama wasn’t on the ballet in 2008.
Out of the 8.2 million voters, I had read that 47% lean Democrat only 761k voted. (I’m pretty sure if you’re not a registered Democrat you can’t vote in the primary) but I can’t find information on how many of the total amount of people that could vote did. If of those 47% could there would be 3.8 million total votes whatever which way in the primary. And Biden got 617k.
https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/VoterCount/Index
So extrapolating out
Biden - 617,000 16.24%
Uncommitted - 100,000 2.63%
Williamson - 22,797 0.6%
Phillips - 20,459 0.54%
Didn’t vote - 3,039,000 79.99%
I know these numbers are taking some liberties but it’s really just to show that a lot of people just didn’t vote. Which I take to mean they just didn’t care to and a lot of those could be seen as uncommitted.
In 2020 there were almost twice as many people that voted in the primary.

It’s ok. We can afford to ignore 100,000 people who are dedicated enough to vote in an uncontested primary.
In a tight race.
In a swing state.
If they just call a permanent ceasefire then they will get the votes they want.
Hell, they could condition future aid to Israel, or stop running interference for them at the UN.
