Here in Australia I wouldn’t be surprised if a bird would swoop in to take it away along with whatever body part it was attached to.

Other than someone freaking out and smacking your head reflexively, one other concern is they might smack it hard enough to rip it out of your ear.

Really weirded out by how many people in here are talking about hitting it, like that’s a normal or okay response to a big spider on someone.

      • If it’s a non fatal blow that’s the best way to get a spider to bite that person.

      • If it’s a fatal blow then now the person has spider guts smeared all over them.

It’s just… there’s nothing good about doing that. Either flick it off or use a piece of paper to remove it.

Most people aren’t talking about how they’re going to calmly consider the situation and then hit the person. They’re referring to the fact that by the time they notice, said individual is going to be too close for a spider that size to get anything other than a fight or flight reaction.

Buuut yes, don’t go slapping things on people or something, guys. It does tend to cause more issues. If you absolutely have to hit, do more of a swat away rather than a slap into.

          That explanation makes more sense!

I feel like people who have an uncontrollable fight or flight urge to make physical contact with potentially venomous creatures are probably slowly taking themselves out of the gene pool though.

I was thinking that! When I was a kid I had a mole on my neck that looked similar in size and color to a tick. At least once a year someone would try to “catch it”

Luckily more often it was serious looks and warning there was a tick on me.

In fairness, I was in the woods a lot and had to check for ticks on the regular.

But yeah, my grandma for sure would have whacked me upside the head if she saw that spider earring.

I hate you and the 8 legged spider you rode in on. I am going to have unreasonable nightmares tonight.

    Take my upvote.

Defendant: Your Honor, I was doing him a favor.

    Judge: With a baseball bat?

Defendant: I was doing us all a favor.

    Judge: Case dismissed!

My immediate thought was that someone is definitely going to scream and smack him on the side of the head the first time he wears that out somewhere lol
