They didn’t go anywhere, but the media now doesn’t need to paint the current admin as “the bad guys” by highlighting the protest groups, so they are not getting the same amount of screen time.

Now the playbook is to make it look like everyone agrees with the governments stance, so quash the protests, ignore their efforts, arrest the instigators.

This is most of it. And there’s obviously some sock puppet stuff too, but the Lemmy community is so small they probably never targeted it. But mostly it’s because getting coalitions to infight has always benefited the people who took power a few weeks ago. Now they have nothing more to gain by promoting it and everything to lose by making people think it’s still a problem. So…

It’s still happening, just not getting anywhere close to the level of coverage it was during the election. Because back in October the big US media companies were trying to paint Biden, Harris, Walz, and the entire Democrat party as being much worse than Trump would be for Palestine. I didn’t see much coverage of Trump’s relationship with Netanhyahu or looking back at what happened in 2017-2020 back the either.

Now that Trump has won there’s no point in stoking any unrest. He’s instead cracking down on protests and cancelling the visas of foreign students who are caught protesting.

Yeah I’m sure that’s it, you nailed it. It turns out that everyone that disagreed with you last year was actually a secret Russian agent. It’s definitely not that primaries and the run up to the presidential election are unique opportunities to push the Democratic candidates father left. Who knew?!

Wtf are you talking about? Free Palestine protesters are still actively organizing their communities and providing support where they can. The same groups are literally still staging actions and fighting for the freedom, liberatation, and survival of Palestinian people at home and abroad. Who do you think you’re clowning on with this meme? The people fighting against genocide didnt just give up because we have a new worse president.

The people “fighting against genocide” in exactly one place in the world and no others played a not insignificant role in why we have a new worse president in the first place.

When there are exactly two options before you, and one of them will be selected, and neither one is perfect, and you spend all your effort bitching about the least bad choice, you’re helping get the most bad choice selected.

Despite what you may have been led to believe, anti-genocide groups have never spent “all their effort” on electoral politics. You’re choosing to spend your time right now bitching about those fighting oppression rather than joining the fight.

            Good work.

Don’t worry, their efforts here have not only made sure THAT genocide keeps going, and the Palestine one gets worse, but also the new Axis powers now have America in their pocket. So we will get to have even more genocides for them to protest from prison. Good job everyone!!

In addition to the other replies, there’s also quite a large difference between the actions of a foreign government doing something our current government already considers human rights abuse and the actions of a foreign government defended by our own, carried out with weapons manufactured and supplied by us, and where any criticism or protest of said support is categorized by nearly every politician as either antisemitism or tacit support of republican extremism. Both are genocide, but trying to protest the actions of the Chinese government as a US citizen in the US is pretty pointless, it’s better to focus efforts where it has a more direct impact. You don’t need to evenly split your attention between every single issue in order to be allowed to talk about any of them.

Most Palestine spaces banned anyone who explained why Trump was objectively worse so yes, the ones who created those echo chambers and participated spreading those narratives to the wider population deserve to be called on it.

With that kind of “support”, why have enemies? The Free Palestine movement is doing their opposition’s work far better than they could. Helping along the movement’s self-defeating strategy could be their best move: with a few more antagonistic governments, the Palestinian cause will be over in no time.

Rather alarming number of people I’ve encountered in the UK have a view something like “it’s horrible, but they brought it on themselves”. These don’t seem to be straightforward horrible people. As they would also say the Holocaust and Armenia and Rwanda (etc) were evil.
