I was really hoping this was a case of intentional malicious compliance to draw attention to the stupidity of this new policy. No such luck.

This is just the right kind of absurd for our current government circus. I believe the headline completely without even reading the article.

Also apparently any photo of any Black or woman service member.

Because they didn’t consider the possibility that women and Black service members did noteworthy things based on their actual merit.

Including a Hispanic Marine who received a Medal of Honor for jumping on a grenade to save his comrades. Medal given in 1946, the infamous period of DEI…

“Images of historically significant military achievements or personnel, such as the Tuskegee Airmen and the first female Marine Corps infantry graduates, have been flagged for removal.”

      Wow. That’s pretty blatant.

The Tuskegee airmen thing pisses me off so much. Like brick-throwing shit-burning degree of angry.

Why can’t they just rename it Enola Straight?

    Though Enola sounds pretty ethnic.

They’re also removing pictures of a Medal of Honor recipient from World War 2. His crime? Being Hispanic. Because being Hispanic and being awarded the MoH posthumously is obviously DEI. From that infamous time of DEI awards, 1946.

They won’t, they will be reviewed by a human being at some point and reinstated, they’ve been flagged by an automated program.

It’s the Scunthorpe problem all over again.

No they aren’t. There’s too many. And nobody wants to be the one to get the blame. They’re going to blame it on AI.

That automated program flagged at least tens of thousands of historical photos, most of which aren’t as silly as ‘haha plane gay’ but of actual people (some of whom are still very much alive) in a blatant attempt to literally whitewash American history. Like, they’ve flagged the photos of literal Medal of Honor recipients because their skin tone is darker than eggshell, this is objectively horrifying. The loss of even one of those files is completely disrespectful on a number of levels
