Then leave. Be free.
Man talk about talking to a brick wall jfc
but they snared a doplerganger and figured they could frame him up fast based on his social media.
doppelganger* and please drop the unwarranted conspiracies jfc. I’m sure there is more to the story but you’re quite literally making shit up.
It is potentially a crime to call for people to kill other people. Yes you are probably fine. But the admin has to be the one to deal with it, and you’re far from the only jabroni acting way. On my server I remove that shit immediately and warn the person. Second time they’re banned.
What do you think entire previous chain of comments was about? You didn’t just say you approved. You didn’t just say you were happy. You said you want other people to go out and kill billionaires like he did. We literally just went over this. You said that true.
Think of the people who have to clean up your shit. Most of the admins who make all this possible are doing us a great service.
I think what a lot of people on Lemmy and the broader Fediverse don’t seem to appreciate is that instance Admins can be held liable for the contents of their instances. The obvious example is CP, but it extends well beyond that, so when we go on these boards and start saying things that will get the attention of government authorities, we are actually putting instance Admins in a very difficult and unenviable position because we want to chest pound and sound tough. If what you were doing could somehow drive change or whatever I would be more supportive of it potentially. But ultimately this is just tough guy shit on the Internet, and I don’t think it’s fair for the admins to have to face serious repercussions over it (almost all of which are spending their money to make this happen).
The only instances that are truly “free speech” platforms are either actually not truly free speech platforms where all is allowed OR they are just counting down the days until they have to stop or are otherwise shutdown.
If the instance admin is smart they’ll ban you before the feds knock on their door
You’re missing the point. You were incredulous at being banned. I explained why. Now you’re saying “yes I did that.” So that’s why you were banned. Advocating for violence/murder.
Do you get it?
Lemmy world isn’t a government and you don’t want completely unrestricted speech on forums dude.
You didn’t say “I’m glad he’s dead.” You called Luigi a hero and called for other heroes to go kill more people. That’s very different.
I mean that’s literally a call to violence. Fuck Reddit but this is not an example of them being terrible. You’re straight up asking for bans with that kind of comment.
This is a stretch.
They could’ve withheld the content if I didn’t pay. They let me have it on their site delivered from their servers. I didn’t walk out with stolen goods.

I find a legislative commitment to literacy is far superior to assuming we will always have the right to learn freely in this country.
Cloudflare is not an ISP and doesn’t haven’t the same relationship to consumers as an ISP. This is quite the stretch.
There are major issues with their market capture and role but it’s a very different problem than net neutrality/ISP’s acting as monopolies.
Yeah that and the NEL during Covid were, legally/strategically speaking, very poor decisions.
Yeah it definitely has a “writing your congressional rep“ quality to it. Your one note or comment is rarely going to move the needle unless there is something truly illegal going on like workplace harassment that is undeniable, but when a lot of people keep bringing up the same issues/departments/people (maybe not explicitly) it can make a difference. Sometimes the squeaky wheel does get the oil lol
For those jumping in on this conversation, I am not saying it is always like this. I’m just saying it often is. Most companies operate at least somewhat practically when it comes to these things. They don’t want to hire new people, they don’t want inter-departmental strife. They don’t want projects not getting done because of toxic leadership. Beyond a certain threshold they often will act. Often it takes way too long and requires way too much from employees, but still, sometimes they act.
YMMV especially depending on the industry.
Yeah I’m with you on this one. All of these people saying “don’t say shit” think they are being smart (and I imagine most of them haven’t even been in the situation) but the reality is you are just making things worse for everyone else and getting fired after something like that is actually extremely uncommon because it’s very easy to point to and demand severance or just for making a lot of racket if that’s not an option.
It’s very easy to get laid off in the US. They don’t need to resort to such tactics. most of the time internal culture things are either ignored or decent people higher up make some small changes in their own departments/areas specifically. I find it’s a great way to subtly point to toxic leadership, especially if other people are doing it.
CP is speech. You want CP?
