I get that. He’s been around guns a bit- not a lot, but several times. This is a small pistol that you would take camping. I grew up in the country and we had a similar one that we took when waking in the pasture in case of snakes or wild dogs. His brother does not carry it around. It’s kept unloaded and locked in a case, taken to the range for classes or practice, and then returned to it’s case. He doesn’t talk to us, but maintains contact with his trumpster racist ‘Christian’ in-laws. I’m proud of him for helping his wife keep a good relationship with her family despite their differences, but disappointed that he won’t do the same for us.

My comment was poorly worded, out of frustration with my own situation and things I’ve read online about it. I didn’t mean everyone in that age group, but there’s definitely a demographic with whom it’s more common.

There’s certain age group that reacts in this way to everything and they think it means they’re standing up for their values. Bit of a rebel without a cause (clue) situation. I have a kid who hasn’t spoken to us for almost a year because his 33 year old brother bought a pistol. OP’s mom is now asking AI, “WTF is up with my kid?”

I’m always surprised when people say they eat breakfast before work. How do they have time for that? I usually have something around 10 or 11, then an apple or cheese stick or cookie or whatever i can find when i get home around 5, then dinner around 7 or 8. I guess that counts as 3.

Similar to ours, but everyone fills out a form (does their taxes) unless you make less than $15k/yr. When you’re hired you fill out a w-4 to say how many dependents you have which determines your withholding. This should work out to make your amount returned or account due in the spring close to 0. Trump’s big tax change that was advertised to give people more money, really just changed these charts so that many people got more money on their paychecks but then had to pay more in the spring.

Anyone who has investments, self employed, or had anything other than a simple W-2 (the form you get from your employer in January that tells your earnings for the year) fills out more and more forms. Each of these forms adds more opportunities to get screwed or to game the system. Deductions for business experiences might include dinners, trips, vehicles, homes/home offices, etc. for some people.

We also pay 7.65% (up to $184k of income per year) into social security and Medicare (a small amount of money and mediocre not free healthcare that you receive after age 65 or if disabled) and employers match a portion of that.
