I get your point, but keep in mind that many (if not all) of these people have been propagandized their whole life, and surrounded by people, the family they love all scapegoating minorities. It takes an extraordinary person to break free of all that and rise above.

IMHO there are actually very few deep down hateful people (and those people are effectively the set of psychopaths). But there are a whole lot of people who have been systematically denied education, misinformed, gaslighted, and poisoned with lead, and lead to specific conclusions.

And I guarantee you a lot of them support both

Edit: also, this is one step in the right direction. You can always change people’s minds later on if you approach them in a similar manner like in this video. Let’s get all people to have some sort of agreement first, then work on other things. They’re humans after all and can be convinced.

Yeah I’ll get right on that after they finish screaming some other lunatic shit about how Jan 6 is both a fight to restore patriotism, a tourist event, and a false flag all in the same sentence.

It’s always some optimistic viewpoint that “Oh just talk to them”.

Like when? During their calls for violence? When they threaten to shoot up political officials? When they harass Americans who just happen to be gay or black or a woman and send them death threats?

“Oh just talk to them they’ll change their minds!” You mean like the constant times when they agreed with a policy and still fucking voted against it because it’ll “hurt the libs?” Like COVID? Like a fucking magic medicine that stops a infection from killing you that in no way should have been political but here we fucking are?

Like how the past twenty years is Dems going, “Let’s work together.” And like a raging baby GOP told them to go fuck themselves time and time again? And now we’re in some “Woke Wars?”

I can get behind that on principle, but I can’t ignore the part where they still support the guy that tried to dismantle American democracy.

Yup it’s getting harder and harder to have that conversation. Having a civilized discussion with these people and finding out they mostly have the same thoughts the other side have is nice and all, but at the end of the day, who are these people voting?

I wish I had your level of optimism.

However life is short and I won’t be using my limited breaths trying to convince folks their hatred is unjust.

I’m not that optimistic, but I try to be. I’m just so sick and tired of politics in this country. We have on each other. We fight each other and both sides are overworked, underpaid and getting fucked in the ass all the time by billionaires and our politicians are making millions laughing at us. I’m just so fucking sick of it all. I’m so sick of people listening to the shit politicians and MSM say. It needs to fucking stop. I’m just one guy, what can I do.
