This is my go-to band whenever I don’t really know what I want to listen to. Even as a metal fan I’ve never been able to get into their first few albums, but their rock stuff is perfection.
I heard them when they were still doom metal. The guy could really grunt and I loved that stuff, but this just always excited me more. I always found it a shame they never made it bigger.
Yeah, for a proggy band their music feels quite accessible so it’s strange they never received wider appeal. My wife refers to them as my “Aladdin music” because to her it sounds like music you’d hear in a Disney film, especially on the tracks with male/female vocals.
Anathema are one of my favourite ever bands. This entire album is immensely important to me.
The way he sings still sends a tingle down my spine.
Yeah there’s an honesty in his voice that really resonates with me.
