“Trump is a felon. He is a pathological liar. He is a menace,” wrote the Vermont senator. “But the national conversation is focused on President Biden’s age and capacity. Only he can change it.”

You know. I’m pretty sure most these cats are almost as old as Biden is, and they should probably not seek reelection, too. Enjoy those well deserved retirement years.

(Edit, just checked. Welch is 77)

It’s not about age it’s about being able to perform his duties. Sanders for instance still runs circles around 90% of congress and i would not expect him to retire purely due to age.

You’re right. But unfortunately, there’s no easy or convenient way, or one that isn’t entirely dependent on things that absolutely should not be public.

Further, Bernie really is the exception.

We already make a hard distinction based on age, restricting presidential candidates to being over 35. I would suggest there are more 30 yos that are wrongfully excluded than there are 75 yos that would be.

And then there’s the whole fact that, for example, half of Biden’s experience predates the internet. 3/4’s predate modern social media. So most of that juicy experience just doesn’t apply to the world we live in.

It is definitely also about age. Sanders is too old to be president. Too much of a risk of mental decline over a 4 year period. Feinstein as a Senator was terrible. Feinstein as a president would be an outright disaster.

Ok, but we knew this was on the table when he was elected to his first term. We could have backed Bernie, who yes is older than Biden, but hasn’t lost a step.

We need to stick it out with Biden for the moment, but need to immediately find a successor.

4 or 8 years ago, nobody know which elderly politician would start to be senile first. Once it starts it gets rapidly worse.

They have known for months, hence hiding him. That has backfired as now there is less time to find a suitable replacement. His while reason to run was to keep Trump out.

Well, his whole reason to step down should be to keep trump out.

And that idiot thinks fanning the flame about Biden’s age will help?

I don’t know of any single case in any of the bigger democracies where a replacement candidate won their election.
Examples of replacement candidates losing are easy to find.

    Replacing Biden helps Trump.
    It’s as simple as that.

And advocating to replace Biden weakens him, thus also helping Trump.

Democrats need to stop that shit fast if they want to win.

The only thing that’s going to Doom the Democratic party for the election is infighting.
Unless we can get all the people bickering about it to understand that they need to vote blue regardless of who the fucking nominee is in November then we’re doomed.
This isn’t an endorsement for Biden to stay or an endorsement for him to step down, it’s just a reality check that I think we all need right now.

Yep. He should be pressured to step down. If he doesn’t, vote for him anyway. However, he should step down and everyone gets behind his replacement.

I think thise who understand this will vote blue in Nov either way. The voters that infighting will risk are already at risk due to the perception of Biden.

People need to know they can vote for Joe Biden and support ranked choice all at the same time.
