Alternate headline: “Tankies and Useful Idiots Pretend to Care About Gaza, Work Desperately to Destabilize the United States by Getting Trump Reinstalled as President”
Harris wants negotiations and a ceasefire. Trump wants Israel to pave over Gaza. If you actually gave a damn about Gaza, you’d be trying to get Harris in, and Netanyahu out of power in Israel.
The leaders and elites of an extremely conservative religious group don’t want people voting for the Democratic party.
Ah yes, because the only viable alternative party is so sympathetic towards Gaza and the West Bank.
If these Muslim scholars and leaders think the Democrats are bad (and to be fair, they are definitely not great in their response on Gaza), they are in for a rude awakening if the Republicans win. It shouldn’t even be a surprise to them. Do they not recall the rabid anti-Muslim reaction and persecution across both large parts of America and the Muslim world after Sept 11th? These Muslim leaders speaking out against Harris have their heads up their asses.
The problem as I see it is that there’s no way to thread this needle without potentially losing the Jewish votes.
Whereas the Muslim voting block in the US is unlikely to get the policy they want if the GOP wins, it’s much easier to see the Jewish voting block going GOP and getting hard support for Israel in return. So those votes are easier to lose in a sense, since the GOP could be a more realistic option for them.
I’ve been thinking a lot about this, and the best I can come up with is that Harris somehow asks for a referendum in the US nationalwide (which would be a first btw) and is able to win both blocs of voters while deferring a decision on the policy itself until the referendum is complete.
