However, his statement provoked a furious response from Argentina’s union the General Confederation of Labour (CGT).
I guess a labor union, not associated with the Argentine government, making a statement about the falklands equates to rising international geopolitical tensions. Argentina lives rent free in the head of British nationalists.
Javier Milei would really be a great cast for an Austin Powers villain. The guy looks more cartoonish every time I see him.
The irony here is that Milei would be the last person to stir up territorial disputes against the UK. He is a total simp for the capitalist anglosphere.
I actually know very little about his political agenda. I just can’t help but wonder if this strange look is part of his political antics.
Nah, it’s Argentinian look. At least the hairstyle. Look up Carlos Menem, another Argentinian president. Wiggy hair and sideburns.
I did not know that either. I mean it’s a cool look, just very 70s.
More likely this is the Express stirring things up. As newspapers go, it’s rancid dog shit.
The article says Buenos Aires as if it’s the Argentine government making political statements. Apparently the “tensions” are coming from a union which is kinda weird. But not surprised by the article seeing OPs posting history

Yep, new account posting shit from the Sun and Express is an easy block.
It’s the penguins I feel sorry for.

“Las Malvinas” tensions… FTFY
Basically no one who lives there calls it that. I’m pretty sure they get to decide.
Also when the topic comes up for vote, there is an exceptional majority for remaining an overseas territory
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_Falkland_Islands_sovereignty_referendum
On a turnout of 92%, 99.8% voted to remain a British territory, with only three votes against.[5] Had the islanders rejected the continuation of their current status, a second referendum on possible alternatives would have been held.[4] Brad Smith, the leader of the international observer group, announced that the referendum was free and fair and executed in accordance with international standards and international laws.
Apparently certain fans of Argentina don’t care what the people who actually live on the island think.
Sort of reminds me of their ancestors.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starrmer
No double “r” on “Starmer”.
Unless you’re from Somerset
Oi loike Keir Starrmer!
Must be a day ending in Y.
What do the Falklands want?
To remain British.
And overwhelmingly so. There was a referendum in 2013 with 92% turnout and 99.8% were in favour of staying British
Reason for this was the region was and is settled by British sailors. Most of the people are of British descent, people speak English etc. At the end of the day, they are tiny islands with 3k people living on them. They are a great source of saber rattling by Argentina and nothing more.
A great source of oil now it seems. Hence the renewed saber rattling.
