This may overlap a lot with the discussion on what people are buying during the Steam sale discussion, but here it is anyways.
Tunic. This game is beautiful and sessions on a full battery can last a while without charging. Highly recommend.
This game evoked a feeling of wonder and discovery that I’ve rarely felt since childhood
Bluey: The Videogame. Worked past the resolution issues, the control issues, and now it is great fun with the 4 year old.
Monster Hunter: World + Iceborne was on sale so I snagged it and I’ve enjoyed it quite a bit. Runs just fine on the deck and even though the game is clearly intended for multiplayer it works totally fine as a solo game.
The main issue I had with the game is that there’s no pause button (as mentioned, it’s a game oriented towards multiplayer) which isn’t really compatible with my current life but with Decky Loader and the Pause Game plugin installed I can easily pause the game mid-quest without worrying about failing the time limit.
Half life 2, forza 4, tloz links awakening and vampire survivors.
After finally upgrading to a 1TB ssd yesterday, I can finally splurge on some bigger games.
So right now I’m mostly playing vampire survivors
I get what you’re saying, but the sentence order definitely sounds like you needed to upgrade to 1TB of storage in order to play bigger games like Vampire Survivors.
it was a little bit intended as the joke (although a true one)
Unrailed 2
Still playing Helldivers 2 since I got it. Fun game that
Thanks for the suggestion of helldivers, I got in enough training on bots and droids just before the illuminate showed up. Had a blast mowing them down with my machine gun and orbital laser!
Super Earth thanks you for your service, Helldiver!
Hopefully, they are back soon. Had a blast getting mowed down by the harvester lasers from outta nowhere and learning how to fight something completely foreign
I’m tempted, how is it in the deck, fps seems hard to do with it mouse and keyboard
I play level 8 without any real issues. It has a deck preset for graphics now. It definitely isn’t a stable 30 but it is in now way unplayable. I routinely walk away with a death or two plus about 550 kills vs both bots and bugs.
It ain’t the prettiest game especially when played on a TV but I’ve been gaming for 30 years and it doesn’t bother me anymore if a game isn’t the sleekest looking. That said, if you only play handheld, it still looks pretty remarkable. And I have no issue using a controller since it was built for PS5
Thanks for the response, I’ve never really played fps on a controller so I’m dubious, but I’m tempted because it’s the one thing I miss playing only on stream deck…i loved me a good battlefield coop, and this seems like it’s one of those, when battlefield was good
You could still use the mouse & keyboard combo on Deck if you prefer that. Just plug it into a monitor or tv and you’re good to go. I’m just controller gamer primarily lol
I’m very tempted as I need something more fast paced than bg3
Alright, I caved… I’m a level 11 cadet now, or works on the deck, and I’m having fun. I’m ready to move out of medium difficulty, I just need to squad up with good players, which had been hit or miss so far with the low level players.
So you know how to push to talk on the deck?
I don’t. But you can assign a key (paddle?) to it.
Edit: just checked - go to options -> controller -> change bindings -> then it’s in the communication tab (third one).
I’d recommend binding your l4 to the select button, r4 to start, and r5 to left bumper. Makes it much easier to call in strategems and use the map during play. Use l5 to open comms then
Also change the grenade key to tap right bumper and unmap it from the right arrow d-pad button then change the right d-pad button to mark. If you don’t unbind it, you’ll mark and throw a grenade at the same time
Thanks! I figured out how to do PTT, and m definitely going to remap what you said because I was finding the disconnect between using those defaults to be problematic. I kept grenading big holes but finding it awkward to switch back to a weapon before I got swarmed, or calling in strategems means I stand there like a doofus starting at my wrist while I up down left right, etc. Meanwhile, hoards are swarming me
I also hate how the default was push to pull out grenades. Before I made it tap to throw and then the gun comes back out, I’d blow myself up way more than I care to admit lol
I actually didn’t understand this part of your config… I tried to do it but my left dpad is needed for strategems… And I ended up in game without being able to use any that required left to call lol
Space Marine 1, A Good Snowman is Hard to Build, Slay the Spire, Cross Code, and Droplitz.
Palworld when I want to focus a little bit
BG3 when I want to focus a lot bit
Balatro when I want to focus none bit
Mouthwashing, which I should finish tonight, Selaco - this one required a bit of tweaking but can mostly hold 60 now - and Balatro.
Nearly done with Metaphor ReFantizio, and also playing some Astalibra and FEAR.
I recently found out that FEAR won’t run well on modern windows PCs, and installed it on my Deck to see if it ran better on linux. Turns out it runs fantastically, with the Deck able to outperform any windows machine. I intended to only test performance, but FEAR is one of my favorite shooters of all time and I quickly got suckered back in. So I guess I’m going to do a full playthrough now.
Playing Pentiment right now
Is it good, it’s been on my wishlist for quite some time waiting for a bigger discount.
yeah, I’m in the last 1/3 of the game and it’s been really good. Getting used to the medieval script in dialogue bubbles took some time, but it’s definitely worth it.
I spend hours setting up mods for games I’ve never played before so I can play the “best” version of it just to either get it working and play for a hell of a lot less time than I spent setting it up or giving up and going back to one of my comfort games.
Mad Max, snatched it for 2 bucks during the sale. Pretty good and chill game and well worth its price.
Whoa. It runs on deck? I just finished it on desktop. Completionist wise it was such a burden and I wish it didn’t have any achievements. Hopefully your sand trip is awesome!
It runs beautifully.
I broke down and bought Baldur’s Gate 3. I really tried to like it, but I did not.
So now I bought Horizon: Forbidden West, but the Deck can’t play it, so I’m playing that on my desktop.
with the latest 1.5 patch you can easily reach 60fps during normal gameplay (all low settings, FSR3 frame gen enabled). you can even reach 90fps incertain cases. its honestly impressive what they were able to squeeze out of the steamdeck.

I’m sure your desktop plays it better, but it should now work on the Deck despite the unverified status (this is the case more often than not).
Whaaaaat?? Friend you just made my night! Thank you!
You can always stream from your desktop to your Deck too if the performance on the Deck isn’t great.
I do this with my PS5 sometimes. I played the majority of Miles Morales that way.
Hey, what was it that you didn’t like about BG3? I haven’t played it yet because my patience for RPGs is low these days.
BG3 is a pretty impressive game really. It’s clear that they poured a lot of effort and talent into it. It just feels… pointlessly complicated to me. There’s like, 200 different spells to cast, each with their own effectiveness based on a dice roll, a multitude of different configurations for character development which all feel both too similar and like I’m closing the door on something I might really like. The story is… okay, but really not that interesting to me, and the pacing in combination with the very open world and constant fiddling with gear with a multitude of only slightly different attributes… it’s just too much. The game feels more like a job than something I’d do for fun.
That’s exactly why I avoided it. It’s a second job rather than fun (to me, plenty disagree of course). Thank you for confirming that. I’ll stick with more action heavy games.
