We could easily fill a semester with American Government if we tackled things like who administers Medicaid.
Instead we have a single video (Mr. Bill), a movie showing D.C. is horribly corrupt (Mr Smith Goes To Washington), and a single chart showing the three branches, and then it’s time to copy down more dates, names, and events!

Poor guy doesn’t know who is underpaying him, nor who is overcharging him.
State employee.
That makes sense. Hadn’t considered that he might be a direct beneficiary of tax dollars.

I did have a semester of government followed by economics in high school as part of the diploma. Our teacher was fantastic. Texas grad, ~15 years ago.
If it was a public school then you got very very lucky.
