I used to be a user of RARBG and in the wake of their absence, everyone seems to be suggesting Torrentgalaxy. Unfortunately, no matter how popular the torrent is, I haven’t been able to download a single file from there. I have tried downloading the torrent file and using the magnet link, both will add the torrent to my client where it connects to the tracker and sees the peers but never connects to them. Magnet links and torrents from other providers work just fine. What am I missing?

Seems like some issue on your end. Just tested by grabbing a random magnet off their latest upload page & it worked fine.

Maybe take a look at your torrent client’s Trackers tab & see if there’s anything amiss with the listed torrent tracker Status and/or the DHT/PEX Status? Everything should be listed as Enabled/Working.

It also helps if you are connectable (port forwarded) though in practice that shouldn’t matter for larger/popular torrent swarms. But maybe it’s worth fixing if you’ve never configured yourself properly for that, see the other post https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/312389

I found a most on another site where the user had the same seedbox service and removing this tracker fixed it: udp://open.stealth.si:80/announce

Hope this helps anyone else with a similar issue.

It’s working fine for me. I have no idea what would cause that. Only thing I can think of is maybe if you have your qBittorrent (or whatever) bound to your VPN connection and you forgot to turn the VPN on?

Double-check and confirm that your seedbox allows public torrents. Some seedbox providers only allow private torrents and will intentionally block public torrents on their service.
