So, I know this isn’t a help forum or anything but, being Lemmy I’d think some people are on the same boat as me too.

I got permanently Banned in reddit for vote manipulation, I foolishly and childishly used 2 accounts to up vote myself to make it seem I was winning arguments. I then created a new account to start fresh but I didn’t know that counted as a Ban Evasion(I didn’t know ban Evasion was a thing), but that got banned too.

I’ve appealed by apologizing since I am guilty and genuinely sorry , however I’m not a spambot or anything. I made a mistake and just want a second chance.

Is there anything else I can do to start fresh “safely”? (factory reset my android device? I Can’t change my external IP tho) Has anyone been on a similar situation and gotten their account reinstated?

Being honest I like Lemmy but it’s nowhere near as populated as Reddit, sadly

I can certainly see that, my only gripe is the lack of content tbh :/.

It’s odd because I’ve been on reddit for 10 years and so now I’m chronically bored lol and dunno what to do, it’s definitely a sign of change obviously.

You need a hobby. I was addicted to Reddit all the way up until Spez fucked us all with the API thing. Then I migrated to Lemmy and followed my favorite apps that changed into Lemmy apps.

Never looked back, and I started to be less addicted to my phone. Watch more TV shows that I liked and wanted to catch up on. Do some hobby coding. I picked up speed cubing as yet another hobby, but one that I actually practice a lot.

Just get off of Reddit (and Lemmy, tbh) and create your own life content, friend. I use Lemmy when I have no other choice. Like when I’m taking a shit. Sick in bed. Waiting for my tea. Short moments. Much better for the mind.

      Best of luck!

Yeah that’s exactly what I’ve been looking into. I honestly could play more video games if I wasn’t always on my phone lol. It’s tough since it’s been years of the muscle memory of scrolling through reddit, but I’m also internally mad that “holy crap why am I letting this app govern my life?”

yea we were all there, people are too addicted to reddit to leave it, even when they revealed a paywall plan people arnt going to leave it, until they get banned from the site.

wish i knew about API, so i could avoided all those bans lol, i heard it pretty much hides your “online identity a bit?”, could be one reason they wanted APIs gone,b eside the financial reasons.

I suppose it could be that the official Reddit app does a whole lot more tracking than the third party apps did, indeed. Seems very plausible to me.
