minus-squareragepaw@lemmy.calinkfedilinkarrow-up2·9 hours agoThere can be peaceful annexation. East Germany, Newfoundland, Hawaii (debatable), Hong Kong, Alaska and more… In those cases, both sides (mostly) agreed to the annexation. None were conquered (again, Hawaii is debatable).
I always thought “annex” had a negative connotation to begin with.
