I have to force myself to look at the person I’m talking to because some people want eye contact. I find it distracting and I find it easier to focus on what we’re talking about if I look aside from them.

I don’t really have a problem with it. If you do (and you haven’t already heard this tip), try focusing right between their eyes. From their perspective you are making eye contact, and from yours it may be enough to lessen the discomfort.

Not very. I’m autistic. I’m usually okay with people I know but it’s hard with new people. At my job we had a secret shopper and I got marked down for not making eye contact. I wanted to inflict violence upon that person. Wish I knew who they were. Also, I don’t owe them shit. No one is entitled to eye contact from me or anyone else.

Horrible. I’m in my own little world usually. Sometimes if I’m in a super good mood I’ll acknowledge people and nod etc. but otherwise it’s just a glance to make sure we’re not on a collision course and im not walking toward an axe murderer.

I think I have a good balance of eye contact and eye aversion for most social situations. And can gauge quickly what someone else’s comfort with it is. I do frequently look to the ceiling when thinking (literally looking for answers or a response) so it doesn’t look like I’m staring or glaring at someone while my mind buffers.

The fuck is a mind war account

I’m terrible at eye contact I can either have awful eye contact and actually hear the conversation or I can have perfect eye contact and not hear a word the person says

I’m generally pretty good at it when I am comfortable with someone. But when I am anxious or sad I cannot for the life of me make eye contact with anyone.
