Reddit removes chats and message history from 2022 and prior

They have warned about this before, but it’s still pretty wild to think they’re now removing old DMs (and chats, but it’s not like anyone used those).

Interestingly you can still see them if you take out your data via a request, so they got them in the database still.

    Wonder how the GDPR is playing a role here. There’s supposed to be a data retention clause that you can only keep actively used data / essential information. It could be them reacting to provisions like that or they could just be making more terrible adhoc changes…
