The USA is one of the strongest propponent of AIs so I see more this as like a Thanos “I used the AI to destroy the AI” moment. Not the best, but from what I can see no one else is even trying to hit the US. Heck, they themselves have failed to kill Trump at least twice.
Lemmy is sliding to the edge of absurdity now. Everything remotely CGI or artificial is labeled slop and automatically downvoted without even looking at the content. Or how sometimes very progressive crowds can act super conservative.

The work to create an alternative party is contingent on changing First-Past-The-Post and the Electoral College. Both of which seem nearly impossible to accomplish.
The people aren’t allowed to vote directly for it. Rather only allowed to vote for representatives who can then go on to vote for that. But they wont, because they directly and massively benefit from them staying in place.
Not saying “let’s do commie utopia!”, but I definitely understand the frustration and wanting to just tear shit down…

I think a line can be drawn from the Tea Party to MAGA, so, 2009-2016 to get an “outsider” candidate elected and it still took until 2024 before MAGA managed to take over the party completely.
The equivalent on the Democrat side would be the DSA. The DSA was a minor, mostly irrelevant faction until Bernie’s first candidacy in 2016. It has since ballooned in membership and elected a bunch of officials across the country and it’s still growing, but they’re still in the Tea Party phase of development and struggling to find their outsider candidate. Bernie wasn’t the one, maybe next time.
DSA has a hundred thousand members which is about 0.03% of the US population.

They took over the party because they all lie, cheat and steal their way into power, then follow that up by dropping all pretense of being a human being. They are the concentrated essence of what makes people think politicians are despicable animals. If all we have to look forward to is “that, except blue flavored” then maybe we really should just let it all burn.

I don’t feel lemmy is way anti ai. I think there are strong feelings that are pretty extreme going both directions with ai and a large amount who are somewhere in between.
I think Lemmy is very AI seperate, or at least I am. If you’re posting slop in !stable_diffusion@lemmy.dbzer0.com I don’t care, but if you’re posting it in a sub where humans post I’ll downvote for sure.

I don’t downvote something because its ai but then again I don’t downvote in general. Im not a big advocate and have plenty to say about its limitations but I think more of the population is less knee jerk than people make them out to be. That being said I don’t even care about downvoting or use vote numbers in the way I look through my feed. I don’t use hot or top.
