  • Never done anything but that. Sadly that doesn’t matter, it will take SO MUCH before any boycott will have any actual effect on them, both from the average person and the ones putting in the real money, trading teams and players, building the stadiums etc. I have never had any interest in sports but my experience is that most people really like it but also have never given a single second of thought to the dealings of it all. It’s pure “Hurrdurr, team from my city/country make ball go into net or whatever make me happy”. It’s so fucking dumb.

I really feel like the vast majority of people misunderstand these movies. They are visual feasts, made specifically to be pretty and push tech used for movies further along. I have never seen anything from Cameron or anyone else involved say otherwise. They aren’t trying to be story telling masterpieces, they are popcorn flicks that you go to the biggest and best cinema to see and just be wowed by the spectacle. And I really enjoy them for that, seen all three in cinemas, biggest and best screens with 3d in my city. Had a blast every time, it’s all about knowing what you’re watching and why.

And yet again, the never ending confusion over “why the fuck is everyone choosing to see ads?” question comes up. When I came here to Lemmy I really thought I’d never se any posts about complaining about ads because all you need to never see one is having the tech literacy just slightly above grandma level. Yet here we are, with weekly posts like this.
And to be clear, I absolutely agree with the comic but it’s most if the comments here that’s the issue. Why are you people not even firing a single brain cell to decrease the amount of ads you see? They’re clearly an annoyance, but they’re also INCREDIBLY easy to get rid of.
