Our annual tradition is to go out into the bush and cut one down. Then we make a fire and have a hot dog roast.

Yeah, it’s my first post on this site. I guess I don’t have the hang of what a dull dad post is supposed to be. My general policy is to not give money. I volunteer at a food bank and give to organizations I trust instead.

Yes, I’ve determined to try not to complain if it rains too much. Not enough rain is far worse.

Yeah, but these guys are going off trail, so away from the parts where they’re making snow. And if they have enough snow to ski and snowboard off trail, they must have got a dump sometime.

I wondered about that. Standing on the top of one of the dunes, I was thinking it looked like Arrakis.

My kids loved him when they were young.

I can’t find anywhere that says. My feeling is it’s sand all the down to the bedrock because there are some very deep valleys. We drove all over them in a dune buggy and there was no bedrock showing anywhere, just sand.

The thought is they were for astronomical or religous reasons.

Yes. Huacachina is actually just on the edge of the dune desert.

Yeah. It was pretty cool. The sand surfing was a lot like tobaganning.
