Yeah I agree. I have this fear at all levels of politics as things continue to get more and more toxic.

Sad to see, I feel like she did a lot of good such with walkability and cycling infrastructure. We can only hope someone similar comes along.
In September, Plante closed comments on her social media posts, saying her replies had been dominated by abusive language for months.
I wonder if this has something to do with her stepping down.
Those numbers are not additive.
If you assume that 50% of voters are Democrat and 50% are Republican, then you’d average them to get an idea of what percentage of Americans believe in that.
Huh? Per the quoted text in your post:
12% of Democrats say Kamala Harris should do the same if she loses.
It’s totally obscene. I traveled to the USA recently for 5 days and my options were:
i) Pay Telus $14/day * 5days = $70 (plus tax)
ii) Buy a US 30GB 10-day esim for $11.27 taxes included.
Plus in option i) I’d be using the data from my own data plan. Unless you really need to be able to use SMS and receive calls, it’s really a no brainer. Especially with how easy esims are to setup, I just had to switch a setting in my phone when I crossed the border. Crazy part is, if it was ``only" twice the price, I’d probably have just paid Telus.
Yes I agree. To me this sends the message ``best case you keep the money, worst cause you have to pay it back." No true penalty.
The $38.9 million fine Cineplex has now been handed is equivalent to the amount it collected from consumers through the $1.50 online booking fee between June 2022 and December 2023.
This is already way harsher than corporations usually get but I can’t help but wish it was more that all they got because they come out with no actual loss.
Yes I would like something a bit stronger. Nonetheless it’s a decrease unless they up the number accordingly. Right now a tip starting at 20% is in fact starting at 23% since it’s on tax as well.
A step in the right direction. I’ve always found it very upsetting that before tip machines, the standard 15% tip was on the subtotal and now it’s always calculated on the total. We are double screwed in that over 15% has been pushed lately and the ``15%" is not the 15% that we used to have.
Except this time the DLC scales so being late/post game doesn’t even save you
Everyone’s hating but honestly fair enough move.
On the whole, nobody uses Bing or takes it seriously anyways and so I guess they have to find their niche. It’s certainly not aimed at us (Lemmy/Fediverse users) who are generally more privacy conscious. If it can attract some mainstream users (e.g., Google users, people like your parents, etc) or stop some users from immediately switching their search engine to Google, then it might be a good decision for them.
Bing providing the exact same service as Google but worse clearly wasn’t working for them.
I agree very disappointing. I find it increasingly difficult since Twitter closed its doors to those signed in as my account is long deleted.
Nice news. Money only starts flowing in 2 years though and then it takes many many years for stuff to get built on top of that. Wish we could pick the pace up on these issues.
Great read. Even in STEM research as a grad student I’m very tired of every saying “let’s try machine learning on this problem” to get something that works marginally better than some conventional models but requiring huge amounts of computation and data.
Nonetheless it’s gotten quite expensive. It made a nice post-bar snack, however there are now many better options at the price point.
It’s expected but still frustrating. I’ve had both trains which serve me go under maintenance leaving me with significantly less options. Some people are left with no option except driving.
Direct new post from REM website:
I love this album.
Sadly I’ve been at this thread and done this already, did not work :(
People think it’s just due to the trackpads being crap (and somehow Windows gets around it). I’ll probably never need to buy another laptop, but if I do I will probably not buy a Dell again regardless of how much I love every other aspect of this laptop.
OK but what if we had one monkey typing away for every real number between zero and one?
