  • Hyper focusing on the 11- or 9-dash line is a lie by omission. China’s usage of and claims to the area predate the Republic of China too, and are established in multiple treaties signed by the Qing with colonialist powers, which is what I was referring to. Like it or not the PRC is the successor government to the ROC even though the ROC still exists in Taiwan, that’s why the PRC eventually took over the UN security council seat, and because of that by precedent the PRC inherits the ROC’s territorial claims, who inherited them from the Qing.

Famously, the Spartacus Uprising was definitely a democratic movement and not an attempt to seize the government by force before democratic elections could be held. /s

There was a general strike! Millions of people participated! It failed in large part because the Communists weren’t ready for it and their leadership was too paralyzed in the moment to actually seize power!

But please continue to just imagine what historical events were like instead of picking up a book and learning about them.

which had previously been cooperative with the KPD after the establishment of the Weimar Republic.

Famously the SPD didn’t work together with fascists to create the kill squads that murdered Rosa Luxemburg.

To reiterate what I said the last time centrists acted revisionist about this shit, nobody in history has been more vindicated than Ernst motherfucking Thalmann. Social Democrats are objectively the moderate wing of fascism and they enthusiastically participated in suppressing everyone to the left of them until there was nobody left and the Nazis decided it was their turn.

  • The SPD was joining with the right to crush workers’ movements long before the election of 1933. If the KPD had joined with them in a coalition it would have represented the KPD abandoning the German workers, and events from then on would have played out largely the same because the Social Democrats enthusiastically went after the Communists along with the Nazis, and it was once the Communists were taken out that the Nazis turned their ire towards the Social Democrats.

The only ways Wiemar Germany turns out different is if a) the SPD joins, rather than represses, the Spartacist Uprising, or b) the KPD manages to take control before being destroyed. It isn’t about being perfect, it’s about preventing the forces of reaction from having a foothold in the movement.
