I’m going to go a different direction than a lot of the other commenters and say this is a bigger issue not because of the hat, but because a major television network that claims to be news edited their coverage of a political event to run cover for the sitting president, because the network knew that the president’s actions would be received as disrespectful by the audience of that network, who are also a large voting block of the sitting president.
