Ehemalige DSA-Figur, die es irgendwie geschafft hat, eines Menschen Pseudonym im Internet zu werden.
Former TDE character who somehow managed to become one mans pseudonym on the internet.
Wouldn‘t it be the best thing to make election day a nation wide holiday? Could keep the tradition while also actually allowing people to vote. I doubt that productivity is high on these days nevertheless.
Has this ever been discussed?
Really hope they find the caller and bring him to court. I mean both streamer and police are the victims here.
At least it hasn’t been a actual SEK unit (SWAT in Germany) they look more like normal patrol officers. But nevertheless it’s unacceptable.
Actual legacy tray icons.
AppIndicator more or less allows an application to send an icon and a list of menu items to the desktop environment to be displayed there in some way. Classic tray icons, on the other hand, are actually part of the application that provides them, the system just puts them in a common row for all applications.
While this type of tray icon is more flexible because applications can do anything they want there, AppIndicators are a better/safer solution because … well, applications just cannot mess around in the system tray as much.
Personally, I thought the classic tray icons were as good as dead (on Linux), but I guess GNOME can always surprise. Not only in removing stuff but also in bringing it back.
Thats the term Stallman came up with when the first distributions (esspecially Debian) started to build up. It wasnt really popular even back than so he setteled in GNU/Linux as alternative which to this day is in the name of quit a lot distributions.
It was never the plan/intend to rename the Linux kernel itsself to either of those terms.
I also think that choosing another instance as Feddit is a good idea. Also in terms of „supporting the concept of federation“.
So another not to big but also stable, european instance would be the perfect solution in my eyes.
Interresting list, thanks.
Regarding the Firefox Wayland variable, it should be possible to add the line in ~/.profile instand. And that file can simple be opend by showing hidden files in the file manager of choice.
Ubuntu (in VM, a few months) -> Linux Mint (1 year) -> Archlinux (2 years) -> Ubuntu (1 year) -> Fedora (2 years) -> Linux Mint Debian (3 years) -> Debian (5+ years for now)
I have had a desktop PC and a laptop for a few years now. The laptop had Mint (DE) for 2 years longer.
That should be more or less it, makes about 14 years on GNU/Linux now.
I‘m not sure if I like this. I use Matrix for a couple of years now and to be honest the more I use it the more I hate it.
Everything just feels slow, clunky and some basic things are quite complicated to archive and some functionality just does not work.
All that was okay for me in the beginning but it never got better.
IRC and XMPP also had their problems but I often wish them back nowadays.
Mod of Scratch 3 with a compiler, dark mode, addons, and more features.
I guess it’s because US laws likes to pretend to be in force world wide … which they are not.
In the past I allways kept my eyes on DiEM25 as a possible party to vote at some point in future. But in my opinion they went the completly wrong way for a while now. You brought some good reminders for why to better let them stay unimportant.
It’s confusing the taz asked the responsible authorities. The important part is the update at the end:
An earlier version stated that the BMI [Federal Ministry for Interior] and the Berlin police had confirmed the ban to the taz. The police had initially referred the taz to the BMI, the BMI to the Berlin Senate Department of the Interior. However, neither had initially denied that Varoufakis had been banned. A spokeswoman for the Berlin Interior Administration responded to a corresponding query on Saturday evening, stating that a ban on Mr. Varoufakis had not been issued by the LEA (State Office for Immigration) as a subordinate authority of the Senate Department for Interior and Sport. The first I tried was Ubuntu 10.10 but for reasons I don’t remember anymore I‘ve decided to rather install Linux Mint 10.
Used Mint for quit a while, then I had my distrohopping phase before finally setteling on plain Debian a couple of years back.
I don’t want to be too picky, but at least the eagle pictured on Germany is kind of wrong. While it is not specified which species of eagle the “Bundesadler” is, it is most definitely never depicted as a bald eagle (that would be the USA). More usuale would be a Golden eagle or a White-tailed eagle.
Not by Cannonical but there are volunteers that still work on Unity.
The same goes for other countries. Germany, for example, has 16 different school systems. But I know from the media coverage that there is more detailed data. I think it’s just to simplify the image.
For Germany I‘m supprised that many here write shocked. That would have been ten years ago, nowadays we are in the acceptance phase.
I don’t use autotools anymore for any of my private projects. It’s plain Makefiles for me simple and easy. But I usualy only target Linux.
