Don’t look too far into android if the browser having a bunch of compatibility exceptions baked in makes you squeamish.

I’m starting to think there’s a wave of people realizing that the internet is government surveillance technology and trying to square the circle.
May I interest you in lynx?
Pretty sure it’s always been like this.
The web is a mess. If you do anything on it on any combination of software and hardware and expect security or functionality you’re barking up the wrong tree.
T4xx thinkpads or the 12” MacBook Pro 2012.
They’re both very well supported by Linux and have oodles of parts hanging around.
Yeah it was crazy.
Sorry for the late response. Disasters happen!
I will not vote for the democrats and no argument will convince me.
I do want to participate in the electoral system and am not forced to vote for people or parties I have no interest in.
You aren’t going to convince anyone with the most important election rhetoric. If a person isn’t already saying it along with you then they’ll be driven away by those words.
I’m not throwing away my vote. It’ll be counted just like all the others. I know this from being involved in the process of elections.
I’m not concerned with what the fascist want.
If the democrats want my vote they can adopt a platform I support, actively pursue it to some real material ends and maybe I’ll cast a ballot for them in two years or four years.
Cups-browsed-eez nutz!
Hey, in case you’re not familiar with it, the Party for Socialism and Liberation is a communist party, not some right wing formation like the tea party or whatever.
So nothing about my support for that party would make me a supporter of trump.
I’m voting party for Socialism and Liberation in November and you can too.
They’re running on a platform of Palestinian statehood and an end to arms shipments to Israel.
No word on their position with regard to Israel’s war with Lebanon, but I’m confident it’s one that I’ll support.
man, that’s tempting. thanks for the heads up!
Serial and audio outs? You got me seriously rethinking my bench…
What kvm if you don’t mind my asking?
I don’t use Wayland for other reasons, but if I did and it broke barrier I’d switch to x11.
Might be worth investigating what you use that is incompatible with x…
here’s hoping i showed enough civility to not catch a ban.
Barrier is synergy but no cost
E: It works fine for me across macos, windows and Linux but I don’t use Wayland so that might affect you.
E2 looks like Wayland breaks barrier.
Im making this reply to help you better respond to people, not to start a fight:
Hey, just a heads up, your cfr link directly cites Adrian zenz, the person many people don’t trust to make even handed statements about China, directly twice.
The vox link sources statements from him several times. I tried to just quickly parse what was what but I came up with seven different statements.
The bbc article seems to reference zenz in six different claims.
I wasn’t able to give these articles a deep read, or check if the other sources also pull from that particular controversial figure or his organizations.
Spoiler, the word is: it’s bad!
Someone already said “they all already work that way”,
But what are you actually trying to do?
You answered the most important question when another person asked it.
You aren’t developing anything, so a distribution for development wouldn’t be necessary. If it were, it would be the distribution closest to the target environment.
You’re learning, and anything is fine. Someone said Debian testing, that’s a good choice. You just want stuff to work and spend the barest minimum amount of time fiddling around with your environment so probably not Linux at all.
You’ll find that the overwhelming majority of support materials in every language you listed will use windows or can be effectively used in windows. If you really need the Unix environment, they will probably first have examples in macos.
So maybe consider using windows or macos.
You’re not going to have an easier time learning2code on some esoteric distribution.
