Officer Brendan Sullivan? Surely not that Brendan Sullivan?
If so, this was a perfect phone prank, 5/7.

Ugh this is gut-wrenching. Thank you for sharing. Those poor creatures…
The guy had a knife, which might have injured one of the cops, maybe. … they think there might be the slightest minor chance that they could be in a little bit of danger.
I don’t disagree with your overall sentiment that police need better de-escalation training and non-lethal defense weapons - but you need to seriously re-examine your perception of how dangerous a knife attack is. Please don’t trivialize it just to make a point, because it undermines your own credibility and weakens your otherwise reasonable argument.
Yeah I was really frustrated that she wouldn’t answer the damn questions
No. At least not in this community. If you follow multiple news communities on Lemmy then you’re going to get some overlap, of course.
This may be true for married couples who started dating when they were teenagers. Since you brought it up, I’d be curious to see what proportion of the couples in the study fall into that category. I have a hunch that it’s a pretty small percentage, though.
While it’s true that there is some stigma against (e.g.) a college freshman or sophomore dating someone who’s still in high school, I don’t think many people in their right mind would object to a 2-, 3- or even 4-year age gap once both partners are at least 20.
EDIT to add: I don’t think 17-year-olds being afraid to date 15-year-olds even registers on the top ten reasons “why people are increasingly lonely.” Your take comes across as very high school-centric.
"And to be a man and then vote for a woman just because she’s a woman is either childish — that person has mommy issues — or they are just trying to be accepted by other women,” Watters said. “I heard the scientists say the other day that when a man votes for a woman, he actually transitions into a woman.”
They didn’t say “sell,” they said “give.”

the postage stamp sizes windy into the or of the article
huh?
Yes, architect is betting much worse
tl;dr
The central bank adjusts interest rates and other aspects of monetary policy in order to meet economic goals. However, there’s always a lag between any adjustment to monetary policy and the desired effect on the economy.
Unemployment and inflation are inversely correlated. The more people that are employed, the faster prices rise, and vice versa.
Right now the Fed is trying to fight out-of-control inflation rates. The methods required to do so will inevitably lead to higher unemployment, and due to the aforementioned lag, there will be a short period of time in which we see higher unemployment and inflation, before we see the desired effect of lowering the inflation rate.
To note, the author expects an unemployment rate of 0.3% above target and describes it as “minor” stagflation.
hmm

The edited video, released by Zelenskyy’s office, gives the impression that Graham made those two remarks uninterrupted and sequentially, when they were actually clipped from different parts of the conversation.
This appears to be the article they were referring to in the video.
Thank you for sharing that article, I wasn’t aware. I need to read some more and re-evaluate my perspective of the current Pope.
Influencer, apparently
Pope Francis abolished the rule of pontifical secrecy that had protected accused child abusers from criminal investigation and has a history of promoting acceptance and inclusion for trans and gay people within the Church.
I don’t agree with organized religion in general, and the Roman Catholic Church is particularly problematic. But as far as popes go, I believe Francis is a good one.
Thank you for the important work you do. I appreciate you.
