I’ve seen enough posts related to etymology or historical use of words where they, either misrepresent the facts to fit a narrative or just make shit up, that I try to look it up my self. I also find etymology fascinating so that helps.

In this case they are absolutely right.

Both Mr and. Mrs,ms are derived from master and mistress (teachers) and both of those words stem from the Latin word Magister.

Edit: fun fact the English verb stick is the same word as the noun stick and comes from the same origin the Germanic word stik which also meant a piece of wood and to pierce/adhere or sharp. But wait it’s older than that the Latin word stigare also means pierce. And share the same ancestry, namely indo-european. Turns out we humans have been talking about sticks for a long time.

Happy to hear that! It’s in my opinion an important part of a technical guide or how-to, to not only show the steps required to perform the task at hand. But to also help wonderers looking for solutions to tangential issues. As well as give enough explanations that next time similar issues need solving perhaps a guide won’t even be needed.

I have a 2015 13" Macbook Air with 4gb ram, and a new battery running, Mint with i3 wm and except for a few very unoptimised webpages I don’t experience any significant lagg when browsing. streaming 1920x1080 video without issues(the screen resolution is 1440x900 so no need for more) sure I only use it for writing on the go and minor surfing, anything heavier like video editing or Blender I do on my main desktop or my lenovo legion. This whole - anything less than 16gb ram is garbage in current year. Does not take into account that a lot of consumers and middle managers actually don’t do anything heavy on their computers.

I agree. Few issues have a single correct answer.

Open source is the language used by the initiators of the call for evidence. It is also clear from the language in their questions that they do not refer to source-available. In my response, I believe, I also make it pretty clear that I am not referring to source-available.

Although your GIF is indeed a great quip about the length of my post, it also illustrates a broader societal issue. Namely, the lack of time or willingness to engage with political topics that aren’t formulated in short slogans. Both unfortunately for many people a product of the society we live in. I am a proponent of 4 day work week(or 6h/day), for this very reason. Unfortunately, some issues require more than a sentence or two to properly explain, argue or convey.

Thanks for taking the time to answer the call for feedback. The more feedback they received stating similar views, the more likely they are to adopt policies that align with the publics view. Especially if they are pragmatic.

Well since I’m located in Sweden I’ve initially focused on how to set up a non profit organisation here. And the process is pretty straight forward. Until you get to taxes, salaries, expences and such. Even if you are a non profit you still need to pay employer fees, taxes on salaries and pensions, if you have employees or any salaried personnel or consultants. If they are volunteers but have expences well they need to be declared. But all that would be normal business for an accounting.(I’m not an accountant)

Basically to get started you need to have a charter, voted on at the first board meeting. After that your organisation is born. Then comes registration, getting an organisation number, setting upp tax accounts, bank accounts, seeking grants and subsidies, an office(for lack of a better word) if needed. Also the non profit needs to have a mission that is to the benifit of society, a bit of a open interpretation here, but it can’t just be “let’s have a we three men go on fishing trips non profit”. Oh and yes it needs to be open for anyone to join (there are exceptions here. But that needs to be stipulated in the charter. Think a historical society, excluding history revisionists, or that dude from ancient aliens).

Well we can organise, set up a non profit (this also lets us bypass CC2 if its ever enacted). I’ve been thinking about this for a while and already have a framework for statues and a draft for a mission statement. If done correctly there are country and EU grants that can help (yes, I spent some time looking through grant processes). What I mean to say is; you have my axe
