The question is: can a wealthy philantropist do more good than a wealthy psychopath can do harm? Buying cars is not really bad per se, it just shows they don’t care for anything but themselves. Spending money on research to solve global warming on the other hand…
Edit: I’m just playing devils advocat. I know it is no solution to all our problems and I hate cumulation of wealth in the hands of a few. But thats the world we live in and I just try to find a silver lining.
I believe it’s peer pressure once you have that kind of money. They are so far from reality they just don’t think about it. All their cocaine-buddies ramble about how they “deserve it” to throw money out of the window, they worked so hard yadda-yadda.
It’s bonkers. But I also never had that kind of money. Maybe we would all do the same thing?
Just stop reading. It should be a nice and relaxing experience, not some sort of accomplishment. I know, school teaches otherwise…
Well, I tried reading it. Then I tried again. I even made a bet with my father who could finish first. We both lost.
It’s just a terrible reading experience. Don’t know why critics love it, but I have the feeling nobody really understands that gibberish but pretends to do so just to look smart…

Don’t follow that rabbit hole!
If it’s hot outside, we can raise the price of water and ice cream.
Exploiting human suffering for profit. We will all burn with a smile on our faces and a semi-cold water for the price of a small car in our hands.
Massive energy consumption. Huge datacenters and not enough green energy. Now they want to build small nuclear plants. Without talking about the waste problem.
The truth is, it’s stupid and people need to learn about it, understand it, and be trained in how to use it before it can be effective.
So, like a hammer. A very expensive, environment-destroying hammer.
This dog needs a new home in Germany. It’s in OPs bio. Some sort of social media stuff maybe. Cute dog though.
Bazzite is awesome. Installed it yesterday, first “distro” that just works with everything out of the box, including Logitech Keyboard/Mouse and fan control. Had to switch to X11 with dual monitor setup and nvidia, but anything else is just smooth. No tinkering, no going back because that one programm doesn’t work properly. Love it!
But did you talk about it with a medical trained person ? In the end its just a damaged nerve in your neck or sonething that can be easily fixed with proper care.
And weed…
Trying to download porn in 160x160 with a 56k modem was so exciting. You never knew if that pixelmess would finish before you ran out of AOL freetime and had to find a new CD. Only missing the “being excited” part with all the instant gratification these days. Not the AOL part.
We are way past that. Björn Höcke, AfD führer-in-spe, went to court to test what he could say. He got away with a wrist slap.
Me too! Conscript, first week. But different country. Still terrifying.
When I travelled Myanmar many moons ago I met a catholic priest. He was in his 70s and worked 20 hours a day running an orphanage with zero funding from his church or government. I am not a man of religion, but that priest was the most impressive person I ever met. The way he kept his kindness and content despite all the poverty and suffering surrounding him gave me a new perspective.
They all work very well with the Linux Surface Kernel. Just make sure the model you prefer is listed. My Surface Laptop 4 with Debian is running just fine, but you can choose almost any distribution.
