39·1 year agoYes. I use Google because it gives me the best results of all the FOSS (but shitty) search engines I’ve tested. I won’t change the tools in my workflow until the replacements work the same or better.

Whoa, whoa, there are people who like Windows?

Linux@lemmy.ml•What are common tools on Linux to wipe an HDD pre RMA?English
2·1 year agoInstalling an operating system and enabling encryption won’t overwrite the data on the entire disk. Instead, it will only overwrite on the specific sectors on which this operating system was installed.
Other “previous” data on the disk will remain intact and unaffected.

21·1 year agoThat’s nice you’re mentioning SimpleX but its design is way too complicated compared to alternatives (e.g. Signal) that no one will use it.
Even as a tech-savvy person, I was shocked that I have to scan a QR code to chat. I can’t imagine how it feels for non-tech people.
As a result, who will you actually chat with? 🙂

Linux@lemmy.ml•[SOLVED] Suspend doesn't work on my Fedora Workstation 41English
6·1 year agoThank you very much! It works now!!! I used the
disable-gpp0-wakeupservice workaround from here. Unfortunately, I can’t wake my computer with the keyboard or mouse, only with the power button, but I’ll figure that out on my own.Thank you so much for pointing out the issue.

11·1 year agoAll “Wake on” things are disabled in my UEFI settings.
To be sure, I also reset the UEFI to have “clean” settings, but that didn’t help, unfortunately.
