Tennessee would join the ranks of states where public school employees have to out transgender students to their parents under a bill advancing in the Republican-supermajority Legislature.

Damn Tennessee, y’all elected some real dipshits.

Y’know the title of “Florida” was already won earlier this decade, right.

Florida has the highest domestic migration in the country. New York, Illinois and California have the worst.

I’m confused. What would someone at school be able to verify that a parent couldn’t? Are they checking genitalia or something. The rights obsession with people’s private parts is getting real weird.

Yeah this is definitely a weird area. I can only assume this is in a situation where the kid has confided in a counselor that they are trans.

This country just continues to use children like objects. They have no rights or human dignity or anything. Politicians think children should be playthings for their parents to use at will. To abuse. To cheat. To scar. To brutalize.

Some parents are just bigots. Some are brainwashed by religion. Some are just afraid and/or angry about anything they don’t understand. If a kid isn’t telling their parents, there is probably a VERY good reason. Kids get beaten. Kids get kicked out of their homes. Kids get sent to conversion camps. Parents can be just as terrible as anyone else.

It may be that the child is asking their friends to use a different name and pronouns at school

And the reason it’s generally advised not to bring into a parent teacher conference is that some of these children are keeping it from their parents due to reasonable fear of abuse.

The idea that a school would not share something this important with the child’s parents or would even be hostile to the idea is evidence that public institutions are anti-parent and anti-family.

There are a lot of parents that are not supportive of their children. Especially if they fall on the LGBTQ+ spectrum. This puts kids at risk. This will harm children.

Having the educational system larp as a concerned parent will harm children. Parents are ultimately responsible for the child not the school. Sorry.

I get the feeling you haven’t interacted with any trans people. Or taken any time to listen to their stories. You should really broaden your understanding.
