Participants in a recent Tough Mudder event have come down with rashes and infections, California authorities say.
“Anywhere on my body that touched the ground had red spots,” participant Chris Palakos told KTVU, adding that as many as 350 people who took part in the event have fallen ill.
“The Tough Mudder race involved extensive skin exposure to mud,” the Sonoma County health advisory said. “Most affected persons have pustular rash, fever, myalgias, and headache.”
Those symptoms may indicate a minor illness known as swimmer’s itch, but also could suggest a staph infection or a more serious bacterial infection such as Aeromonas, the advisory said.
Guess we’ll find out who the toughest mudders really are…
Who would of thought mud is dirty and has shit in it.
Umm sweety the mud was put there by event organizers for taking Instagram pics
I wasn’t at this one, but a lot of these events are in cow fields. They don’t do a great job of mucking out all the plops beforehand, so that’s not always just dirt you’re sloshing in.
not to mention unless you’re at the front of the pack… there’s all sorts of other grossness going on in that there mud too.
What’s worse than cow shit, what is a human leaving behind in a race that is worse than cow shit?
Non-cow shit
🤢
ᕦ(•ᴥ•)ᕤ remember what doesn’t kill you makes you covered in gross
Ah, so it’s organic, free-range, small batch shit.
Always love seeing groups of people do dumb things without a second thought because everyone else is doing it.
You’re a lot better than them, rest assured.
Thanks :)
monkey see monkey do
This is probably many Californian’s first experience with mud and dirt. They didn’t know that you shouldn’t go in mud with open wounds (which they all have, living in California and whatnot). Now we just gotta wait for tests to come back that the whole thing was polluted with human waste and it’s a classic Cali tale.
