Why is everyone hating on summer? Im so happy now, when I think that in a couple of months days are gonna be 6 hours long and everything will be gray, damp and cold I want to stop time.

    • Because its really hot and humid here and summer either have frequent thunderstorms and flooding or droughts while winter storms tend to be much more mild. Winter is like 65-80F here during the day.

In six months I’m gonna be so happy that the days are 6 hours long and everything will be gray, damp, and cool. Summers last like 6 months here and August is the hottest month. Will be wonderful to go outside without the sun trying to murder me.

Yes, true. But at least I don’t have to slather chemicals onto my skin to avoid the nuclear hellfire in the sky giving me cancer. I know cold ain’t exactly like happy fun times. But I prefer it over heat absolutely.

I can always put on warmer clothes if the weather is cold. Summer on the other hand, I can only take off so much without scaring children and getting arrested.
As for shorter days, the night time is the right time.

If only +10kg of clothes could bring out the sun, stop endless winds, make icy roads safe for walking (let alone running), and make the person wearing extra clothes really comfortable.

I get a feeling most people here just stay at home a lot and the heat makes that more unbearable. That’s why I love summer, as soon as I can I just get the hell out of the house.

I ran across so many people today who had Very Optimistic opinions of how effective the single swipe of deodorant they put on that morning was. After about half an hour into my day I pulled out my smelly muscle rub stuff and put a dab under my nose.

Idk where you are in Texas, but it’s been pretty mild here in South-Central. Humid af though due to all the unusual rain, but it’s been keeping the actual temp below 100 for most of it.

i would love to be in that camp, fall is great, it’s just too depressing that winter is coming soon.

few more summers like this one and i’ll start getting depressed on Spring, because of looming Summer.

I live in a high-mountain desert. Everything is dead and brown in the fall, there’s few pretty deciduous trees shedding leaves, and the cold spikes can bizarrely get colder than most of the upcoming winter will be, just without the snow so you can’t even have some fun.

I much prefer spring. It’s the one time of the year I see any green.

In my little slice of hell summer means it’s low to mid 90’s everyday with 60%+ humidity and it rains every fucking afternoon. You can’t go outside for more than 5mins without sweating profusely. It’s kinda ass.

They’re prob one of those people who refuses to get a good coat. Classic Southerner behavior, tbh. We hardly ever have a true need for good winter clothes down here, so most people don’t know how to layer properly to stay warm, so they think people living in colder climates are just freezing all the time. Because of barely having any inclimate winter weather, too, we don’t invest in much infrastructure to keep our streets clear of ice/snow, so the roads are always terrible after snow storms. People generally won’t shovel their walkways, either (even people who usually carefully tend their yards in other seasons!)

This leads to most people having a skewed perception of winter around here lmao

I mean where I’m from we do tend to just stay home for the 18 hours of snow on the ground we get a year, because it’s way cheaper than keeping snow plows from rusting 364.3 days out of the year.

I’m not saying it doesn’t make sense monetarily, I’m saying it leads to an altered perception by people who don’t think too hard about it in regards to how other regions live during winter

Not exactly. I live in a region with 4 seasons, hot summers and cold winters, yet when I go on vacation anywhere with 100°F/35°C and +80% humidity it just doesn’t get to me. I can walk for hours in that heat without collapsing. My only problem is that I love sleeping cold, like 40°F/10°C cold bedroom.

As awful as it’s been, last year was worse where I’m at. Last year we had 45 consecutive 100° days in a row. And that followed a 18-day 100° streak with a chilly 99° day in between the 2 streaks.
