Fair point. I’ve edited my initial comment to address abstainers.
As for my grasp on vocabulary:
gaslighting: to psychologically manipulate (someone) usually over time so that the victim experiences doubts about their own emotional or mental stability
Exhibited in your suggestion that conformation bias is clouding my ability to read.
strawman: an intentionally misrepresented proposition that is set up because it is easier to defeat than an opponent’s real argument.
Demonstrated by your argument redirecting the focus to those who are ineligible to vote.
Ready to try again? Although you may have a better chance of convincing someone less literate.
Exhibited in your suggestion that conformation bias is clouding my ability to read.
Sorry, that’s not gaslighting. I was suggesting that your confirmation bias makes you cherrypick non-voters among all the people criticizing the Dems. It’s simply absurd to claim that only abstainers criticize the Dems. I did not try to manipulate you.

You said that “those who didn’t vote shouldn’t be allowed to complain”. I felt included, since I didn’t -ote, but I’m not a US citizen. Refusing to steelman your point does not equal strawmanning.

I’m trembling, when thinking of your literacy. /s 🙄
I see. So you believe it’s not manipulative to attempt to discredit another’s opinion by repeatedly distracting from their point using well-known bad arguments, all without supporting your own opinion?
Right? When I talked with my English, German, and Australian friends they all blamed the voters immediately. “What the fuck are they thinking?!?” was the response.
It’s not like the DNC manipulated or obfuscated Harris’s message the way they did Bernie’s in 2016.
Sincethe whole world is dependant on the american empire in some form or another, it’s pretty wild to prohibit non-US citizens to have an opinion on the US election.

You’re commenting on the very specific set of social, cultural, organizational, and regional elements that have affected this election, and you have no direct knowlege, or comprehensive knowledge of any of it. Yet here you are feeling really strongly about it.
That’s fine in that it’s not illegal or anything - hey, let your freak flag fly, but - I just find it strange. As a stupid American, if I were to feel really strongly about LiverpoolFC’s lineup or strategies, you’d expect I knew a lot about football but I don’t - yet here I am telling them Diogo Jota’s injury is going to plague them the rest of the season and they’re complete idiots for not working to replace him right now when it could make a damned bit of difference. And I don’t watch football.

Where did I say anything of the notion “democrats suck for losing”.
Also, I’d argue that no one has “comprehensive” knowledge of the elements that affected this election. At least not at this point in time. “Direct” knowledge is IMHO not that important to judge the situation.
I think you underestimate how much US politics is covered around the globe. Just look at this community and remember: there are a lot of non-US citizens on Lemmy.
Okay, but we’re talking about the mindset of Americans that didn’t vote against trump. I’d argue whatever insight the international press offers is significantly more limited than the insight one gets from living a large percentage of one’s life here. As regards party politics, at least.
Lol… ok, Mr./Mrs. “Telling me I’m cherry-picking information and succeptible to confirmation bias (like everyone else is) is literally gaslighting”. /s
Yup. By your third comment criticizing my opinion without stating or supporting a counterargument of your own, I assumed you were trolling and began treating you accordingly.
That’s not what your overgeneralising comment suggests.
I’m not sure you know what these terms mean.

Stop telling me how great your farts smell.

It’s no wonder Trump won.
“I’m not a US citizen”
This appears to apply to a LOT of people who’re making the tired “democrats suck for losing” comments. It kinda boggles my mind.

When did I say something like that?

Right here.

Now that’s what I call a strawman!
Edit: … wait, actually, it’s not. Your “argument” doesn’t even parse.
Good luck in high school.

Have a day.
You yourself admitted that you claimed bs and edited the comment after I criticized you, but yeah I didn’t “support a counterargument.” /s 🙄
