A week after Trump’s election victory, a Manhattan judge is poised to decide whether to uphold the hush money verdict or dismiss it because of a U.S. Supreme Court decision in July that gave presidents broad immunity from criminal prosecution.
Real question. If Trump goes to prison, does Vance take over at president? If so, would Trump be eligible for another since he only served one term due to this?
Honestly, I wouldn’t be shocked if there’s another Trump assassin soon after the inauguration, maybe even at the inauguration, but this one is strangely successful and then Vance becomes president.
I have said this and I will keep saying it… Vance doesn’t want to be vice president… He doesn’t talk like he’s going to be… It’s weirdly like he believes he will be president, at least that’s the vibe I get from this guy… As soon as trump does something crazy he’s going to say he’s unfit for office…
Who’s to say it’s not just going to be a repeat of the Dubya/Cheney dynamic? Trump’s just gonna sit there eating fish delites and double-fisting diet cokes, rage-watching RSBN, and just soaking, marinating in his filth. Meanwhile, Stephen Miller is going to snarf down a handful of chidren’s teeth for breakfast,* crack his knuckles for forty-five minutes, and decide which urban center gets hit with the first big wave of avian flu.
*he waits until sunset before he unhinges his jaw and swallows a dog whole
I don’t think he’d automatically take over. They’d probably have to use the 25th Amendment to allow the cabinet to transfer power, because god knows he’d never give it up himself.
But Trump would not be eligible for another term. The 22nd Amendment says “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice”.
For the first question, I don’t know. It’s uncharted territory.
And as per the second question, it’s dependent on what exactly happens. Term limits apply to the elections, not time spent in office or anything else. The clock only starts ticking when someone is sworn into office. So Trump getting sent to jail could actually give him a third term if he only serves two years. But there’s like a 90% chance he doesn’t survive the next four years.

🙏🙏🙏 (not Vance becoming president, the event which would precede that)
I can see what you’re saying, but I’d rather have a dumb Nazi in charge than a smart one.

Because Trump does not let anyone tell him what to do not matter how stupid the alternative is.
They’ll do it shortly before the 2026 midterms so they can declare martialxlaw and cancel elections.
He’s not sworn in yet. So I don’t think Vance could take his place. I would think they’d have to trigger another election.
No. 🤣
If only it worked like that.
I think the only way he wouldn’t is if everyone saw him shoot Trump. Otherwise it’s automatic
Trump was almost certainly never going to prison. Now it is completely certain.
