Am I the only one who has mixed feelings about sharing this dudes photos everywhere.

Like I’m all for glorifying this CEO killing given the wealth disparities in the US. But I don’t want this dude to be caught, the more we share his pics, the more we help him get caught.

I stowed a package for a Martin Shkreli the other day, had to double triple take. What an unfortunate name. Or maybe THE Martin Shkreli uses Amazon under his actual name.

The words don’t make sense, either with the apostrophe or if it was a plural.

WTF even is this supposed to mean?

Even as a native speaker this one took me a while because I don’t ever take taxis/ride shares and don’t watch movies/shows.

Don’t feel too bad. I recall there’s some study that when the color contrast of text is low, people find it harder to understand even when the text itself is straightforward. That red over colored textured jpeg is attrocious! 😭

English is not one of the hardest languages, otherwise people wouldn’t use it as a Lingua Franca. 90% of English is pretty easy (we barely even conjugate and have basically two cases, which can always be declined the same way, with only remnants of a third in personal pronouns), and the last 10% is mostly unnecessary (though it is much more difficult).

It’s entirely reasonable to make mistakes or have difficulties with English, and absolutely nobody should feel bad about it, but it’s not really a hard language in the way that Polish is, for example. Even that’s subjective: Polish is probably pretty easy to learn if your native language is Czech.
