Weird that they didn’t just give them access to parking lots, that would have been way faster.

Political Memes@lemmy.world•Tax the Billionaires, they'll be fine
31·19 hours agoNah, I was ignoring you being rude and staying focused on my point. We all need to do that if we want to get anything done about wealth inequality.

31·20 hours agoYou should try talking about wealth inequality with strangers more. Maybe we’ll get somewhere.
It is a screen capture of this ridiculous test though

31·20 hours agoI always phrase it like this:
A thousand seconds is a coffee break, a million is a vacation, a billion is a career and a trillion is over three hundred centuries.

5·1 day agoIt’ll be sad and unnecessary if we throw the cancer diagnostics out with the work stealing, resource wasting, slop machine.
It would be a tragedy if we accepted the latter so that we can obtain the former.
They do have similar expressions and dimples, to be fair.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do Americans really only shit once a week?
2·2 days agoNo, thankfully it felt pretty normal to me. It was definitely closer to three than five on the stool scale, but no blockages.
The only reason I realized it was abnormal was because I mentioned once that I didn’t poop during a week of sleep away camp and everyone thought it was an exaggeration.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do Americans really only shit once a week?
7·3 days agoWhen I was a kid, I’d poop once or twice a week, but I had a weird diet (vegetarian from very early childhood in a meat-eating family, so I drank a lot of milk, because my parents worried about protein).
Nowadays, I probably poop 1-3 times a day, depending on how much I eat. I’m vegan now, and I get more than enough fiber without any of the, uh, fixative properties of dairy, so that probably has a lot to do with it.

3·3 days agoThe Drew Carey Show is great, rrhof less so, and there are definitely problems in Ohio.
Weirdly, I can kinda understand how the second one is a call for violence, but not the first. You’re just expressing your neutrality towards another country’s actions. Surely they can’t expect you to have an opinion about everything.

22·7 days agoThe “experiment” is one you conduct on yourself, it’s not for thinking about a process and using your imagined results as the basis of further study. It’s very useful in a number of non scientific fields, and it can serve as an aid in scientific education though, so it shouldn’t be written off generally.
The paper clip thought experiment is a punchy, memorable example of the conflict between what input you give to a computer and what the computer interprets from that. The goal is for people who hear it to remember that they need to be thoughtful about what exactly they want and precise in their phrasing when they’re programming or training an AI.
You also colloquially shorten it to half and halfs.
It’s gross, but if you’ve got a napkin nearby, you’ve got the opportunity to provide some instant karma in the form of social shaming.

Progressive Politics@lemmy.world•A Private Call Reveals Democrats’ Desperation Over Tossing of Map
2·8 days agoThe thing about this type of gerrymandering is that it can be countered by a large turnout of people voting for the disadvantaged party, because they’re spreading their supporters more thinly in more districts.
That said, the other election suppression measures trump has alluded to and will likely try are a lot harder to counter with such small margins (a county with 40% Trump voters, all of whom are armed and
serving as election observersintimidating the other voters, could absolutely swing the election in their favor, for example)

Meaning that they’re less likely to spit bile in their defense of religion, or is this a reference to some religious belief?
