The White House blocked an Associated Press reporter from an event in the Oval Office on Tuesday because the news agency has not altered its style on the Gulf of Mexico, which U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered renamed to the Gulf of America, the news agency said.

I mean, the Overton window is skewed heavily.

I’m not sure what you mean by social safety nets. If you mean stuff like unemployment, nobody should lose the right to be alive because you lose your job.

I thought UBI was pretty stupid the first time I heard about it. But the way it was explained to me, it sounds okay: you get enough for like a 100sqft apartment and enough money for bread and milk. That’s it. It’s only enough to keep you alive. If you want other things, get a job.

The big issue is just that the free market can’t work unless everyone is on an even playing field. That means, we can’t rely on corporations for health care. That means you should be able to refuse to work and not die as a negotiating tactic. For me, none of that is politics. That’s all BEFORE we start to discuss politics.

Like, the government is supposed to work for the people.

My parents are from a different culture, so my conservatism may differ a bit.

I hate paying taxes, but I am aware of what they are for. Trickle down is a scam, and we need to remove loopholes before reevaluating if our system works or not.

In other words, I want to be Elizabeth Warren - a former Republican. Work within the system if you can. If you find that the system is broken in some places, fix it.

For what it’s worth Elizabeth Warren is considered one of the few left of center Democrats in the US. With this information I would say you are close to a social Democrat, and definitely not a conservative as we understand it in the US.

Well, whatever she is I am. There are only two politicians I feel legitimately feel strongly about: Warren and Trump.

Trump, because he’s the most destructive president ever

Warren, because she’s the only person I’ve ever felt proud to vote for.

Check out Bernie Sanders. Yeah he’s 80 years old but he’s fighting for the poor and middle class his whole life. He’s the only senator in the US that doesn’t belong to either political party.

This guy got arrested marching for civil rights with Martin Luther King. It sucks that he’s so old but his mind is sharp. He, Warren, Lina Khan and Alexandria Cortez are the only national level politicians I respect. And Lina Khan got fired by Trump already.

That’s just one video. Every day he’s out there fighting for the workers.

I…. can’t do Sanders. His supporters rub me the wrong way the way Clinton’s did. Like it’s really hard for me to take a step towards considering a candidate if instead of helping me form an informed decision, I get trashed or called names for even considering someone else (first time I voted I did third party, Clinton voters called me sexist even though I voted for a woman).

AOC, Warren seem more clinical in their approach than Sanders.

Biden, Harris, Clinton all suffer from the same ailment: “it’s my turn so vote for me”.

I do like AOC too, but she’s not a perfect match for my views like Warren seems to be

I hope you’ll give him another look. Any person’s supporters can be shitty. I’m sure if he heard what they were saying in his name he’d lay the smackdown. If you consider him just as a politician, on the merits of the legislation he has supported and opposed, I hope you’ll see he’s a valuable ally.

When we only have three or so people in Congress working for the workers of the country maybe we shouldn’t throw him out because of something his supporters did.
