I just don’t believe that, sorry. Nothing special about Vance, I just think all anyone would have to do is lean into Trump as a martyr. Even a freak accident would be painted as the work of radical leftists, and Vance or whoever would capitalize.

It might not matter. Vance is not a danger the same way Trump is, he cannot rally support. Trump being gone just might be enough.

If Trump had written project 2025, I might be more inclined to think that. Trump on his own is what his first term was.

Project 2025 is a mechanism while complex it is ultimately worthless without a lever that being Trump. If Trump dies at minimum we will have some breathing room as the GOP infights, theres also the fact that without Trumps cult of personality posing a constant threat of lynching folks will be far more willing to outright oppose orders from the Whitehouse.

I respect your perspective, but I’m not convinced. Everyone I’ve seen say that just asserts it as fact, even though there is no shortage of demagogues in the alt-right. So many people think this ends with Trump and aren’t planning for what comes next, it seems.

Its not that there arent replacement but that they arent nearly as useful. Shit would still be bad but itd be like 20 percent more manageable, not brilliant but it buys time. Also cults of personality have a tendency towards imploding without the head, meaning without Trump a lot of his supporters would most likely become inactive.

Its not that im not considering what comes after its that I am hoping historical tendencies apply and it implodes allowing some amount of retaliation towards the hanger ons.

It’s really hard to see Trump like this as we all see the real piece of shit that he is, but he really does have a type of charisma that Vance doesn’t. He also doesn’t have the instinct that Trump has as far as “good” insults, or how vicious he is with complete disregard for when to insult people. MAGA love that. I really don’t see them getting behind Vance like they did Trump.

I really believe the GOP was on the way out, they absolutely got saved by Trump though… They were quickly running out of people who could motivate the right. We just happen to live in the worst timeline where they got their conman. :/

Yeah, Trump is best thought of as fascist Bernie. Neither of these men are good orators, they aren’t appealing to their enemies, but they’re hypnotic to their supporters. Going to a Bernie rally in 2016 was electric. It was an old man yelling about politics, but it was an old man yelling about how I deserved better and that the people who screwed me and my fellow Americans over need to pay to fix it. I imagine Trump feels the same way, except he’s not calling for payment in the form of money to provide Healthcare and a more equitable society.

It’s similar to how you gotta remember that Hillary is shockingly charismatic one on one, she just really isn’t when speaking to a crowd
