Summary

Sen. Lindsey Graham warned that halting U.S. military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine could be “worse than Afghanistan.”

He urged continued support until a ceasefire is reached and announced plans for sanctions on Russia’s banking and energy sectors.

The Trump administration paused aid after a heated Oval Office meeting where Trump and JD Vance clashed with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy. Russia escalated attacks following the fallout.

U.S. and Ukrainian officials will meet in Saudi Arabia to discuss a minerals deal and ceasefire, while Trump seeks further concessions from Ukraine.

Huh… I didn’t expect Graham to regurgitate a position opposing Trump and Russia.

    Somebody must’ve outbid the oligarchs…

And every US president since Bush thought, that they were fixing Afghanistan. And it let nowhere, except killing a lot of people and wasting a lot of tax payer money, aka. enriching the MIC buddies of the Republican and Democrat party.

Pulling out of Afghanistan was reasonable. The US should have learned since Vietnam, that they are not fixing anything with invading other countries and forcing a regime change. However they also don’t want to fix anything. They want to destabilize and destroy, to prevent regions from emerging as economic and strategic competitors and to enrich their MIC buddies.

Also Vietnam was not a war fought primarily against North Vietnam, it was fought against the civilian resistance against the French/US installed colonial regime in South Vietnam.

No they claimed they had a plan. The orange turd thinks he really fixed it. The US should have learned something from Vietnam but none of that stuff you are talking about.

Key bit: “ he urged support until a ceasefire is reached….”

Anyone remember what happened in Georgia when a ceasefire was reached?

Why go so far? Ukraine had a ceasefire with Russia between 2019 and 2022. There were even working mechanisms to deal with conflicts. Russia showed it can’t be trusted.

The Ukrainian government made no effort to implement Minsk II, had it been implemented then this war would likely not have happened.

Minsk explicity stated that elections come first and then withdrawal. Ukraine wanted Russia to withdraw first before allowing elections in the DPR and LPR which was against the agreement.

Ukraine also had the obligation to uphold linguistic rights to ethnic minorities but violated the Minsk Agreements with the 2019 language law which didn’t outright ban the Russian language but did discriminate against those who did not speak Ukrainian or an EU language.

Zelenskyy initially did campaign on a pro-peace platform but he was quickly pressured by far right militias to do otherwise.

Lindsey, just a few days ago:

“He either needs to resign and send somebody over that we can do business with, or he needs to change,” Graham said.

Wasn’t he praising little d just last week on this very thing?

Speaking to reporters in the White House driveway right afterward, South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham predicted that the shouting match could end U.S. support for Zelenskyy, calling the meeting a “complete, utter disaster.”

“Somebody asked me, am I embarrassed about Trump. I have never been more proud of the president. I was very proud of JD Vance standing up for our country. We want to be helpful. What I saw in the Oval Office was disrespectful, and I don’t know if we can ever do business with Zelenskyy again," Graham, the Senate Budget Committee Chairman, said. “The way he handled the meeting, the way he confronted the president, was just over the top.”

Yeah, it wasn’t a disaster or over the top because of anything little d or “JD” “Vance” did during their planned ambush of a guy trying to fight off a dictator invading his country. Not according to Lindsey. Last week, anyway.
