So I’m not 100% sure this is the right sub for this but I couldn’t really find another sort of mod abuse sub that had actual users. I recognize that I am most certainly an asshole in this situation, but I got banned [email protected] for a misogynistic comment I left on a completely different sub.

imogen_underscore in that same thread made multiple death threats against me and has only received a 7 day ban. So I want to be clear here that in their eyes a misogynistic comment left on an entirely different sub is WORSE than death threats left in your own sub?

Death threats are a heat-of-the-moment infraction, people don’t usually mean it.

In contrast, misogyny reveals a deeply flawed character of the commenter, that makes them incompatible with participation in the community.

Death threats even in the heat of the moment are at best legally a grey area and could be seen as a felony.

Being a dick or a clown is 100% legal

        Appeals to Authority fallacy

        Consider the two following statements:

“[Insert Racial Group] people should not be allowed to exist, they are inferior beings. They should be sterilized so these filthy roaches stop procreating.”

“If these health insurance CEOs keep denying claims, I’m gonna to their place and shoot them”

The first one is protected free speech in the USA.

Thw second one is potentially an illegal threat.

But which commenter is a worse person? Which one is more deserving of a ban?
