Every now and then I get the urge to start a new Fallout campaign until the moment I remember how many hours of my life I need to spend downloading, unpacking, installing and organising mods just make it barely playable.

me for the past three days going crazy with a new portable SSD and downloading all the moddable games and Wabbajack modlists I can stuff. just uninstalled Baldur’s Gate 3 on that SSD after not being able to run just the Mod Configuration Menu properly.

the tepid, sometimes feverish, high of imagining the possibility of fully modded games frustrated every so often by an error or crash. its a mostly disappointing cycle for me and yet i keep coming back agony-shivering

      but that’s the game!

you reinstall the game after a few years
      boot it up
think to yourself “hmm, this really needs mods”
you spend 2-5 hours scrolling through nexus
then another hour or 2 fixing load order, conflicts, etc.
then you boot it up again
“hell yeah, this is rad now!”
      never launch it again
then uninstall it a month later

      9/10

I spent years doing that with Morrowind before I wised up. I actually download OpenMW recently just to take a look, and had the most “been there, done that” feeling ever from playing a game. I gave up on Bethesda after Skyrim and never looked back, and my gaming life became all the better for it.

roughly the experience i’ve had every time I’ve tried to get back into modded Skyrim years after spending untold hours with modded 32-bit Skyrim. Wabbajack’s automated modlists are the only reason I attempt to try, and when i initially start a game, my reactions are 1) I don’t recognize anything in this game now wtf and 2) damn, my mid-spec laptop from half a decade back just isn’t good enough.

Skyrim modding is honestly too labyrinthine in posdible scope for me now to do much manual adding and tinkering

where did you see anything about Skyblivion being out? the only statement from their official accounts point to a release sometime in 2025.

tho allegedly, a leaker on twitter is claiming the Oblivion Remaster is 120 GB and drops sometime tomorrow…

edit: oh wait, post title is sarcastic lol
