What have you done to fight climate change lately? I think we should celebrate anyone taking action for a better future, regardless of their age. The majority of people, old and young are doing nothing.

They’re doing the right thing now. That is what matters. I’m really impressed. They could just chill and enjoy the rest of their lives. Instead, they are fighting for a better world for all of us, some even risking prison. We should all follow their example.

this is the part that slays me about skeptics: it’s your kids and grandkids. wouldn’t you do anything for them? don’t you love them?

      what the actual fuck, over?

it’s literally the only biosphere we have and we’re treating it like we have a package of biospheres from costco unopened under the sink.

Still, she took a more cautious approach to climate activism until she retired in 2021. “As a working GP, I didn’t really want to do anything that was arrestable . . . Maybe I retired a bit earlier as part of my wanting to do more for the climate.”

In November 2023, she was arrested and charged under the newly introduced offence of interference with key national infrastructure, which carries a maximum sentence of 12 months imprisonment, for taking part in a so-called slow march on Waterloo Bridge.

I appreciate that they’re going into this prepared to get arrested. And now they’re like “fuck it.” It’s weird people reading thw article seem to get the impression these specific women have sat on their butts their whole lives. Am I missing something? What should these specific women do differently?

Holy shit yes. What is wrong with these comments. The first thing in my mind was how amazing that these older women are going out and about trying to protect the environment for future generation when they could be enjoying their retirement, but apparently some people don’t like it because of… What?

This kind of bitterness and blame game is exactly what the ruling class wants us to engage in so we stay divided and don’t fight back effectively. We must resist this narrative and unite with everyone who is willing to fight for a livable future.
