Yep its a shadow drop. Out now on steam at least. No idea if its any good or not. At least the gfx are shiny. Never cared much for Oblivion back in the day. (Prefered Morrowind and Skyrim) but I might give this a try one day.

At least its going to feel like a whole new game for me if I get to it, since I played it so little back when I first tried it.

In a move that has baffled everyone, it’s the original 2000’s gamebryo engine handling game logic while all 3D visuals have been remade from scratch with UE5 as a graphics wrapper.

They also changed some base combat mechanics to be less floaty, added hit reactions and FX, and added sprinting.

It is a strange Frankenstein’s monster that can load mods made for the original Oblivion game and runs pretty shite

      Per reddit:

      • New voice acting (mixed in with original voices - each race has a unique voice now)
      • New combat animations with hit feedback
      • Sprinting system added
      • Reworked third-person view (aim was to match Starfield’s TPV)
      • New levelling system (fusion of Oblivion + Skyrim…whatever that means)
      • New interface (retains the general aesthetic of the original game’s UI)
      • New content with Deluxe Edition
      • Every model/texture in the game has been remade by hand
      • Remastered VFX and SFX, added effects for combat
      • Uses Unreal Engine 5 for graphics, original engine for core gameplay systems.

AFAIK, the new level up system just hands you a bunch of points you can distribute to your attributes freely. The old leveling system was one of the very few things I would mod away every time I played so I’m happy with the change.

devs dont want to optimize their games anymore, smh

all the specs from this Remaster is honestly too much; storage size, 32 GB RAM to run it comfortably, prob need high spec CPU and GPU as well…

Lol this is the first place I read of it while I was on break. My pc is too potato to run this, I don’t have the space and I don’t have the specs. I sort of want to see what skeletal system this thing is using, I’d guess its old Oblivion’s system of nifs with just enough UE5 to make serious modding painful. They for sure reused some of OG Oblivion’s attack animations. The lighting looks too grim for the land of happy potato people.

Anyway, modders for other retro communities remade their game for free using UE5, they remaster and charge, should have just upgraded the engine but that’s #effort.

from browsing the skyrimmods subreddit over the course of the day, people discovered that the remaster contains pretty much the same file structure and formats as used in the original, with plugins able to be loaded up and edited in the old Construction Set as well as TES4Edit. Saw one thread where a commenter mentioned that modders on Discord believe that meshes are “statically linked” or baked into the formids, as opposed to being linked at runtime or “dynamically linked”. seems like mesh edits and animations could be the modding wall for the remaster if that’s confirmed.

I saw a Donkey from Shrek mount replacement mod, I’m sure there’s a way it just won’t be easy since TES4 modders aren’t familiar with UE5 and vice-versa, we’ll need a tool to make those talk to each other for ease of modding.

can’t wait to get lost in the fucking maze that is oblivion gates

oh you’re supposed to find this cave entrance that has no signifying features and blends into the mountain face and in a completely random inconspicuous location and you’ve been running around trying to get to the main tower for 1.5 hours?

    great fucking game wooooooooooo

all snobby comments about oblivion aside, the dark brotherhood questline is the best questline in the ES series. bar none.

I’ll probably get to this eventually if it is good. I just hope Expedition 33 is good and still does well with this competition.

Crack is already out and propagating across the internet. It’s up on private trackers right now. Check cs.rin.ru later today and I bet it’ll be there. doggirl-thumbsup

Edit: 13 minutes later, and it’s there.
