Feel this is a good accompanying piece for all the folk insisting on caping for a Blackwater merc wth a nazi tattoo because he said something they liked.

I honestly can’t tell smear campaigns from fact from opinion from truth… anymore. I’m just tried. Y’all win.

While I don’t think this comment was made in good faith, at all, it is an important thing for people to understand.

You see something in the news media. Let’s break it down

      1. Is it from a “reputable” source: Yes, CNN is co-opted as fuck and part of the opposition. But, generally speaking, they lie through omission and editorializing the actual facts they present. So… yes
      2. Is this information verifiable? Usually that is a mess because of the nature of sources and interviews and you have to kind of trust the journalists involved. In this case? We got links to primary sources (e.g. https://web.archive.org/web/20190226141422/https:/www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/comments/auy0bi/battleweary_ss/)
      3. What are the possible motivations for showing this? That can be good or bad. In this case, it is a safe bet that it is a mix of “controversy sells” and “let’s tear down a potential populist on The Left”
      4. Does that matter? That is up to you. For me? I hate nazis. And I would much rather we not elect a nazi rather than give a nobody a chance and somehow have an even worse fetterman.

Because, at the end of the day: Intent does not change facts.
