Also, how the subsequent West German government was enthusiastic about arresting, torturing, and executing anyone believed to be a communist sympathizer or organizer. Also, how the Christian Democrats that took control of East Germany following the collapse of the USSR were zealous in their campaign to uproot and abolish any kind of German Communist Party, going so far as to ban the DKP from running as recently as 2021.
