      And yet there are many games that despite offering offline play still require an internet connection or require online download.

          “Enshittification is the consumers fault” is one way to see it but I’d rather put the blame on other parties, like the ones actually making the decision.

            The ones that make the decision not to require online verification dont make as much money and they have bills to pay. There are publishers making all sorts of decisions, the consumers decide which ones they give their money to.

      Not much today, at least not with the expensive / interesting stuff. And you’ll have to live with the bugs and crashes, as nobody will fix the betas they are selling as products today.

        Depends how you define interesting. Out of all the games I have there is just one where I must have an Internet connection to play. Others only need it to update.

          Thank you! This is my pet peeve. “Gaming sucks these days”. No, the games you play, the companies you give your money suck. There are plenty of good games. Supporting toxic companies is a choice they are making.
