This is another example of US centrism.

From the name there is no indication that this wouldn’t be about world politics.

Please rename the community or change the subject to world politics and create a community like [email protected].

Why don’t you go start a different community if you don’t like this one rather than complain about it? I don’t think it’s fair to tie the location or domain of the instance to your argument. Communities should be hosted on whatever instance they want with whatever content they want.

Have you seen the votes on this post? Currently that’s 200 upvotes vs 32 downvotes. So ~2% of the subscribers upvoted in the last two hours. But I guess, these 200 people are just my multiple personalities or something.

Some instances do not allow downvotes. I don’t agree with your post but cannot downvote it.

I’m not complaining, I like no downvotes, downvotes are usually just a way for people to vent frustrations without articulating them.

But, you can’t necessarily use votes to draw the conclusions you have.

Nobody asked you or apparently gives a shit about what would be a better name for a community centered around your country’s politics or to be more specific, your preferences. If you don’t like the sub, simply stay away. Why are people complaining about something that literally nobody forced on them.

Because it is named the very vague and general name in lingua franca: politics. I guess other countries will just use their own language for politics so the most impacted are other English 1. language nations. Tho one would think of world politics first on the internet.

The name is not vague. It’s “Politics” and the content matches that. If you read the rules, as you should with any community you subscribe to, you will find that the mods intended for the discussion to be around US politics. If you are looking for politics specific to some other country then you have stumbled upon the wrong community unfortunately. Rather than complain, just move on.

                  1. Pretend that the default of internet discussions should be your country’s.

                  2. Complain that other people are complaining.

                  3. Stay mad.
