Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Will LLMs make finding answers online a thing of the past?
4·1 year agoThe problem is that the LLMs have stolen all that information, repackaged it in ways that are subtly (or blatantly) false or misleading, and then hidden the real information behind a wall of search results that are entire domains of ai trash. It’s very difficult to even locate the original sources or forums anymore.

World News@lemmy.world•Gaza’s youngest influencer aged 11 among children killed by Israeli strikesEnglish
3·1 year agoDoes it really matter? Israel had the sympathy of the world after Oct. 7 and they threw it all away with their genocidal response. They’ve created infinitely more enemies than they’ve killed, and it doesn’t matter if these enemies are called Hamas. Israel has guaranteed decades more violence be directed their way by whole new generations.
Yeah, wish they would bring it to full seamless VR rather than downgrade to tinyScreenOS.
While it’s become long in the tooth and populated now by only the super try-hards, check out Mordhau. Blocks, ripostes, parries, chambers; all attack angle swings and stabs. Really the best that it’s been done, by far.
Counterpoints: Mordhau, Nine Sols
You can learn to judge reach in Mordhau, though what you’re describing is a fundamental problem in video games. Unfortunately, like Chivalry before it, Mordhau devolved into ultra-high skill cap animation manipulation. Still, it has the best, highest fidelity melee combat ever, making games like for honor look and feel like trash. It’s almost impossible to enjoy any other melee combat games/RPGs after experiencing Mordhau.

politics @lemmy.world•GOP Ends Clean Energy Credits Years Earlier in Revised Bill
1·1 year agoMany of the largest corps are buying and adding renewables in ever increasing amounts. There are some cases where fossil fuel is still a little bit cheaper than renewables plus batteries, if you completely ignore externalities like harmful emissions. Running out of space and maintenance costs? You’re grasping at straws. Nearly every industrial facility is on the grid, not requiring any nearby space. And you know what’s always more expensive than solar maintenance costs? Fossil plant maintenance costs, not even mentioning a little on-going cost and cost-risk thing called fuel.
More new solar capacity is being installed than any other generation type. I guess heavy industry is gonna collapse due to it being weak girly power! We’re doomed!

politics @lemmy.world•GOP Ends Clean Energy Credits Years Earlier in Revised Bill
61·1 year agoWhat specifically makes “industrial energy” different from any other energy? I keep seeing this lie about renewables everywhere and it doesn’t even try to make sense. Electricity is electricity. Need “more juice?” Install more renewables for the cheapest juice in history.
