They are entitled, angry and dumb assholes.
I do not understand why they are protected. There are so many of these pricks where I live. I fantasize about raiding their nests in the spring for big delicious eggs!
They love crossing roads slowly because fuck you. If you maintain your speed all of a sudden they get out of the way. If you slow and wait, they will take ages to cross.
Wife was giving me a hard time because I don’t slow down for them. I told her that if a goose were driving and you were crossing they’d run you over and honk after they did it.
No love for these bastards. All they do is turn grass into gooey green goose shit all day.
A duck is far better.
rbamgnxl5@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something you once had a lot of respect for but now have no respect for?291·3 days agoOld people who are assholes were probably always assholes. They were once young assholes and got older. Conversely, old people who are good, were probably good people when they were younger, they just got old.
Most people don’t stray far from their roots. Few are those who make a meaningful change. Some choose goodness as a goal, some get their asses kicked by life and turn bitter.
I guess the lesson is don’t be an asshole. if you are one, work toward being less of one until you aren’t one anymore. Try not to let life get you down. If all else fails, drugs.

rbamgnxl5@lemm.eeto Work Reform@lemmy.world•Company agrees to 4-day week at full pay—worker reveals dramatic result19·12 days agoDon’t forget, when people have time and a little extra energy they will do things like vote, volunteer, develop themselves, improve their health, maybe run for office.
These are all counter to the strategy to run everyone ragged, keep them on the treadmill producing and consuming until they drop. People who are exhausted won’t fight back.
This doesn’t work.
If it were only about novelty, then why aren’t there more bellybutton fetishes?
Being a fetish-having person, I can tell you there there is more than just an attraction to the object of your desire. It is a primal, deep, uncontrollable NEED to see or touch the object.
I am not a foot fetishist, so I do not presume to know the intimate details of what they like, but I can promise you, it has nothing to do with novelty. Fetishes have so many variants also; there are foot fetishes, sock fetishes, feet squishing stuff, toenail paint things, some want a footjob, some want to lick them or suck on toes, some people like big feet, small feet, the list goes on and on.

rbamgnxl5@lemm.eeto Technology@lemmy.world•AI is rotting your brain and making you stupidEnglish35·15 days agoYeah, such pieces are easy clicks.
How about this: should we go back to handwriting everything so we use our brains more, since the article states that it takes more brainpower to write than it does to type? Will this actually make us better or just make us have to engage in cognitive toil and fatigue ourselves performing menial tasks?
How is a society ever to improve if we do not leave behind the ways of the past? Humans cannot achieve certain things without the use of technology. LLMs are yet another tool. When abused any tool can become a weapon or a means to hurt ones self.
The goal is to reduce the amount of time spent on tasks that are not useful. Imagine if the human race never had to do dishes ever again. Imagine how that would create so much opportunity to focus on more important things. The important part is to actually focus on more important things.
At least in the US, society has transformed into a consumption-oriented model. We buy crap constantly, shop endlessly, watch shows, movies and listen to music and podcasts without end. How much of your day is spent creating something? Writing something? Building something? How much time do you spend seeking gratification?
We have been told that consumption is good and it works because consumption is indulgence whereas production is work. Until this paradigm changes, people will use ai in ways that are counterproductive rather than for their own self improvement or the improvement of society at large.
rbamgnxl5@lemm.eeto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Netflix Puts AI Ads in Paid Tier: Pirate Everything at This Point1·20 days agoI have built and maintained all manner of home servers using inexpensive used hardware. Any PC or old laptop can do this stuff. Unless you’re doing something crazy on them, I’ve not encountered a lot of situations that I could not sort out. Usually throwing some more memory and storage into them solves most issues.
I ran a used desktop machine with an i3 processor (retired school system) for YEARS as my NAS with zero issues beyond adding a little cooling. Did the same with a firewall, worked for ages with no issues.
Getting a mini pc is nice if you are putting it in your living room, but there are still many choices for small form factor devices. Not quite as small, but still pretty small. Lots of them were used as POS terminals at stores. Wipe 'em, reload and start fresh.
Could just rename it to “asshole roundup” and perhaps expand the effort a little.
I feel like I slept through the point where everyone decided to stop answering calls, answering doors and generally chose to turn to a life of hermitage. It would have been nice to get an email or something so I at least would have known.
Seems like a dog should be able to handle things like doorbells and people. These are somewhat common things.

I threatened to get a Sigma Dad tshirt and wear it to my son’s school. He’s since stopped with all the sigma stuff.
There is no such thing as a $3k car, those days are gone. If it’s going to be something that is expected to start and drive every day without major repairs that are overdue, you need to spend closer to $10k.
I know this because I recently bought my sons some used cars. Used 2006 Volvo was $6k in about as good of condition it could be for the age and miles. Still needed a bunch of little things that quickly added up. New tires ($800), PCV breather system ($120 did myself), new ignition coils ($200, did myself), brakes ($80, did myself), etc. If I wasn’t doing my own work, it would have been 3x the cost.
I also bought a 2013, nearly identical car to the 06. It needs far less, put tires on it, still has an evaporative emissions leak causing a check engine light. Not going to fix that.
I don’t like em but no need to kill them unless they are tasty.
